Greta Van Susteren, a Fox News prime-time host, is being scrutinized for a questionably close relationship to Sarah Palin.
It seems that Van Susteren's husband, John Coates, is a political adviser to the Alaska governor.
Questions about the Palin link, combined with the overnight success of Glenn Beck at Fox News, makes observers wonder if Beck might soon get Van Susteren's spot.
Insiders say Beck has already been viewed as a possible replacement for Van Susteren, who represents the weakest link in Fox's otherwise indomitable lineup.
Van Susteren's ratings are getting smashed by Beck, whose show, despite airing in the ghetto that is 5 p.m., is already the network's third-highest-rated program.
So far, Fox says the switch won't happen, in part, because the network has always had a woman in its prime-time lineup and Fox News chief Roger Ailes is reluctant to change that
Beck is a flash in the pan alarmist.
Fox should be careful.
Sorry that you mistook my honesty for liberalism.
I’ve been around for many decades, and have seen guys like Glenn come and go.
He reminds me a lot of Morton Downey Jr. who created quite a stir in the 80’s with his populist-style talk show. Unfortunately, the novelty wore off in just two years, and that was the end of it.

Glenn is a nice guy and very sincere, but I’m afraid he will not be able to take the pressure of being a prime time host.
Greta’s husband is John COALE.

Agree. This writer obviously has no fact checkers.
Everyone in a Glee Club or a play in small town Mississippi is gay??
Agreed..Shep is the weak link. I’d like to see Megyn Kelly and ___________ in that spot.
Let me get this straight....greta’s husband ‘might’ be an informal ‘advisor’ to Sarah Palin (who lives about 7000 miles away from him in D.C.).
Now, of course, there are marriages all over the place amongst the Demoncrat party and NBC, CNN, ABC, CBS, NYT, WaPo, etc, etc, etc. And nobody thinks that it is anything unusual.
It’s not like Gretas husband went and got hired as the spokesperson for Palin or the RNC (unlike, say, everybody at TIME/NEWSWEEK/ETC).
Have to disagaree with you on this one Palladin. Palin is awesome and Beck is perfectly stable. He’s a passionate guy. Loves his country, fights for it in the forum he’s given, and I LOVE the guy. I like men that are men enough to show their emotions. He’s NO flash in the pan!! Still love ya. CO
Hi, CO. I love you, too.
I really hope I’m wrong about Glenn. I do like him as a person; as a TV host—not so much. (To use a Glenn-ism.)
I’m a very picky person Palladin and Beck touches me where I live. Some of his “mannerisms” I overlook because his message is so “right on”!! He’s fighting for your country Palladin. He’s at least trying to start a grass roots movement. If its not done and NOW, you are going to be steam rolled. That is exactly what is happening. There is no more time for pontificating and analyzing and criticising. It’s time for action if you want to save your country as you know it. CO
“Its time for action if you want to save your country as you know it.”
Agree completely. Your country, too.
The whole civilized world is in great danger.
I say move Glenn into the 7pm time slot. Glenn is great for 7pm. I am not home at 5pm and therefore, I have to tape his show every day and I always watch it at 7pm.
I love Greta at 10pm.
Glenn has to much energy for the 10pm slot.
Greta’s interview with the Palin’s had great ratings. She was the only one who worked hard to get interviews.
It may be more likely that Beck gets HANNITY’s spot. Hannity is unwatchable - while Beck is actually pretty entertaining. Beck also possesses an IQ one standard deviation higher than Hannity’s.
If anything I imagine they could move Bret Bier to Beck’s current slot, Shep to Bret’s slot and Glenn into Sheps afternoon slot to lead into BOR... it would a a killer lineup.
You may have the last word. I’m out of here.
Want to put some money on it? I’ll bet you Glenn’s show doesn’t “burn out” the way you’d wish. It might be banned material under the next generation of the censorship doctrine, but it will not “burn out” on its own.
As much as it’s not something I enjoy all that much, when I have watched her reporting legal issues, she does a top-notch job and gets both sides. I’ve defended her since way back when she switched over from CNN and plenty of Freepers have, over the years, complained she was a liberal that didn’t belong on Fox. Despite her politics, CNN background, and Scientology, I always thought she was a decent person who worked to get at the truth.
