This is what has happened with the two party system. Their decisions are based more on what’s best for their parties and to hell with the country.
Loading up our social service network with 10-20 million new welfare recipients is a recipe for disaster.
And a majority of Americans, minus politicians and big business, know this

This is just more extreme anti-Americanism....and more Hispano-Racism
Republicans lose because they are not strong enough in deporting illegal aliens, and not strong enough in preventing illegals from getting benefits....benefits that most Americans do not get
As the GOP tries to coddle the Hispano-Racists by going soft on illegal alienism....the GOP keeps losing elections. Being tough on illegals will win more elections

What the GOP should have done was come with sensible legislation when they were still in the majorities instead of playing politics with it. Instead the GOP ran a candidate who din’t have it in his heart to support banning foreign gangbangers the right to enter or stay in the country.
Got news for ya GOP, those gangs hurt latino voters, who would have been glad to see them gone.

The party or the individual. If you believe in global warming, you will never get my vote. If you beleive in giving these criminal invaders anything but a one way ticket home, you’ll never get my vote.

Reagan already gave them amnesty in 1986.
How did that help the Republicans?

Reagan also demanded that the border be secured and no further illegal immigration allowed. Congress did nothing of the sort, though a few patriots in the House tried mightily to secure the border.

If they do it as a party, it becomes a de-facto plank of the party and means the party doesn't believe what I do. Therefore any republican is a whole bunch more likely to get the same - you see a democrat candidate and reasonably assume they have NOTHING in common with you - treatment.
Can I reasonably assume then that you've denounced the republican platform since they added the Global Warming plank to the party's beliefs?

The RINO Party Alert.
Just say no to liberals, turncoats, and traitors!
We don't intend to turn the Republican Party over to the traitors in the battle just ended. We will have no more of those candidates who are pledged to the same goals of our opposition and who seek our support. Turning the party over to the so-called moderates wouldn't make any sense at all. President Ronald Wilson Reagan
NO! to on-demand abortion. NO! to homosexual marriage. NO! to amnesty for illegals. NO! to gun control. NO! to affirmative action.

We wont get their votes with amnesity. The GOP lost the Presidency because McCain was the most boring, white bread, non-communicative, same old same old, candidate in the past 50 years.... amnesty or no amnesty.
Voters (even many Democrats) were desperately looking for a viable candidate because deep down they didn't trust Obama.
But when Obama began to outclass and outthink McCain at every turn, even the anti-Obama Democrats threw up their hands and said, 'what the heck.'
People instinctively don't support a 72-year old frumpy guy with recurring cancer, especially one with such an irritating nasal voice as McCain. I truly believe it had very little to do with amnesty one way or another.

The author must be a Democrat .... comment after the article says it all:
“Funny how the Chronicle does not identify Jacob Monty, as they usually give attribution to outside opinionators. A very curious omission. Who is he? - A Hispanic immigration attorney in Houston - who makes money off illegal aliens. Getting immigration policy advice from this guy is like getting financial advice from Bernie Madoff. No thanks.”
