CAPE CORAL, Fla. - A tea party to protest government spending and taxing is canceled. Canceled by the government.
Why? They feel too many people could show-up.
Lynn Rosko planned to hold a tax payer tea party at Jaycee Park in Cape Coral on April 1st. The idea was announced at a Cape Coral City Council meeting, then an e-mail blast by the Republican Party and it was mentioned in the local media.
With all of that attention, the City of Cape Coral felt there could be more than 500 people attending the tea party.
Therefore Rosko needed to get a permit and insurance for the event. Rosko says she's not willing to get insurance and accept liability for something that a stranger could do. Rosko told WINK News, "I have rescinded any organizing or supervision or what ever you want to call it over this tea party on April 1st."
WINK News spoke to the director of parks for Cape Coral. He says that even now if Rosko is willing to get insurance for the event he'll likely re-authorize it.
For now Rosko's event is canceled, she's encouraging people to attend the April 15th Tax Payer Tea Party in Centennial Park in Fort Myers.
Is there a right to everything?
This leftist lunacy that there is a never ending cascade of some imagined Constitutional rights just because they say so, is exactly why we have the troubles we do...
There is no right to education. There is no right to health care. There is no right to join to a union. There is no right for two homosexuals to sodomize each other and call it a marriage. There is no right to (place leftist idiocy here)...
Oh, and flag burning is not free speech... it is lighting a fire... it has nothing to do with speech...
Fire and speech have never been the same, and never will be...
Keep the faith.
YES WE CAN!
I’m saying that rights exist without the Constitution. You seem to be insisting that they must be enumerated in the Constitution to exist.
Amendments Nine and Ten do not support what seems to be your position.
This idea that we have all these so-called “rights” is exactly what has corrupted our courts.
I see no reason to continue feeding that leftist hydra headed beast.
There you go, Simple idea and would work. The time now is for “To Hell you say, and do it anyway”, who they gonna jail? all of them. HA.
I wonder if those huge rallies for Obama were insured...
[This is an unacceptable move by the local government. The people should show up anyway and ASK to be arrested.]
Yep. And when arrested sue the pants off the city for violating their civil rights.
Those of us old enough to remember the Civil Rights marches of the 60’s can remember how this was a favorite tactic of the authorities to prevent the marches. “Parading without a permit” was one of the most creative, iirc.
If I were Rosko, I’d be sorely tempted to announce that there won’t be a TEA party at Jaycee Park in Cape Coral on April 1st. No, siree, no party, nope, not there, not at noon, and whatever you do don’t show up for a picnic at noon, on April 1st, at Jaycee Park in Cape Coral, nope, nothing happening there, uh huh. Don’t come, don’t bring your friends, and whatever you do, don’t bring any signs, don’t say anything political, and never ever ever protest, especially at Jaycee Park at noon on the 1st. Just don’t do it, m’kay?
Surely there is a nation some place where you would feel more comfortable living. This one apparently ain’t it.
if the people were Acorn nuts they’d get funding to do it
I just wrote them all with this -
“Great Job guys. The whole country can see the socialist quislings amongst us through actions like this. I’ll be writing my Florida relatives to make sure they throw out the usurpers of people’s right to assemble.

We have to push back, as hard as necessary, to protect our rights. I guess that’s just how it’s going to have to be..
Everyone should be even more motivated to go to that place at that time, and show their disapproval.
I remember a story a while back where people took COPIES of their property tax forms (IIRC) to the courthouse square and burned them in public. But then they went home and filled out the originals and paid them. Now I'm not gonna say too much here so that 1. I don't get banned from this site for inciting law breaking & 2. So I won't be investigated for the same. But I was left shaking my head and dumbfounded. Just what the hell good did that protest do except give the powers that be a good laugh? Just saying..everyone can figure the rest out for themselves. /rant
FreedomWorks can cover the Cape Coral event. Just email bstein80 the details. We can attach the event as a rider to our insurance.
I don't think anyone is paying attention to your post!
