That was a lot of words that basically said yeah, tiny, undersized, underfunded, unsupported, military that needs a breather for a year, carry on dudes.

Their tiny number of guys that serve in their tiny military are used to portray Canada as some kind of warrior nation but in reality Texas supplies a great number more military recruits annually than the entire nation of Canada does.

This conservative American TV show was mocking the Canadian support for the military and it was accurate (and funny), but as usual Canadians hold up the the small number of their actual soldiers as cover for their lack of national will and martial spirit.

It is nice having foreigners at FR but the Americans here have a lot to do related to the stated goals of this site in relation to American politics and the beating that freepers are having to suffer for a valid statement on a late night conservative, humorous news/comedy show on our favorite network is out of control, there are many threads on FR on this segment that are posted by foreigners touting the same thing, the valor of a handful of Canadian soldiers (the entire active military is 65,000) and a sniper shot as refutation of everything that conservatives dislike about arrogant, leftwing, Canadian politics.

France, Mexico, Canada, Norway, Germany, Britainstan, at times American conservatism has something to say about all of them and many other foreign countries, a one year military stand down is a big deal.

Doesn’t anyone here remember the 15 British sailors that were captured and the mocking Britain took for that here at FR?

Maybe the Canadian Gov shouldn't be worried about a US comedy show, and worry about how to purchase some MRAPs.

http://www.thestar.com/News/Canada/article/606084

The Americans have come up with the Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) fleet of vehicles that are both massive, weighing up to 22-tonnes, and expensive – they cost $750,000 each. But they did achieve their goal of dramatically cutting deaths related to roadside bombs in Iraq, where the IED tactic was honed before being exported to Afghanistan.

“By the time the U.S. programs began ramping up it was obvious that the (Canadian Forces’) lead in blast-resistant vehicles was going to be a one-time thing,” said Priestley.

General Dynamics Land Systems-Canada presented the Canadian Forces with a prototype replacement for the LAV III last year, though a DND spokesperson said there is “no planned or programmed LAV III replacement project” – only plans to refurbish the existing carrier.

The prototype, known as the LAV-H – the “H” stands for high capacity – would give Canadian soldiers a vehicle with a rounded hull, stronger suspension and extra armour. But it weighs in at about 25 tonnes, and that could be a complication in Afghanistan.

The LAV-H was built based on the feedback from Canadian troops returning from Afghanistan, and the possibility of a purchase is “still working its way up through the DND bureaucracy,” said Peter Keating, a company spokesperson.

You’ve touched on something called ‘reality’.

Let’s be perfectly frank, shall we? Aside from this being JUST A FEAKIN JOKE and people should get over it, what you’ve posted is accurate.

When other countries’ military contributions to the WOT are posted here, we applaud politely, but in reality, isn’t it like giving a big cheer for the kid show doesn’t catch the ball but shows up for every practice?

This war is being fought by America. The other countries who are contributing are doing the right thing. That doesn’t mean their contributions deserve the Heismann, the Oscar, the Nobel and a house in the country. Our military is doing the bulk of the fighting, out taxpayers are paying for most of it, and our soldiers are doing by far most of the dying.

We can go back to giving golf claps to the little brothers of the world who are assisting now, and pretending we’re all in the same boat, we’re all contributing the same. But really, it’s no more real than saying “we” are fighting, when we (no quotes) are posting on a web page, not shooting, killing and being killed.

Thanks to the Canadians and others who are contributing something. But come on, if all of them refused to join us, we still would have gone to war, and I suspect the results would be no different.
