I’ve seen columnists starting to bandy about phrases like OCD, megalomaniac, schizoid, abandonment issues (2 fathers and 1 mother left him as a child!). They are grasping, sensing something is seriously unstable about this man’s ability to be human, and tossing out some psychological labels. You’re right about the dissociation, which comes from a complete inability to empathize. His behaviour has always been sociopathic, these new things the media is “discovering” (ridiculing disabled kids on Leno, etc) are no different than his comments about “clinging to guns and religion” or his idealizing Rev. Wright’s for 20 years. My opinion is Obama has a classic case of Narcissistic Personality Disorder, and by that I don’t mean he’s just egotistical, I refer to a serious medical illness that renders him unfit for office.
Agreed, Obama’s narcissism is pathological. Someone posted a while back an excellent article that goes into great detail about what you are describing. I believe it was written by a Dr Vakniem? I’ll try to find the link. It’s a very interesting read.
