I would add "just about totally corrupt" to our leadership being weak. This I have no doubts about.

I would add "just about totally corrupt" to our leadership being weak.The whole system has grown rotten to the core. What the American political system really needs is our equivalent of the Italian Tangenti Scandals of the early 1990s. About 1/3rd of the Italian parliament and over 2500 other nationally prominent citizens found themselves under indictment for corruption. Most of the major political parties in the country were swept away and replaced with newly organized or formerly minor parties.
