President Obama, after an uproar by veterans groups, has scrapped a plan to require private insurance carriers to reimburse the Department of Veterans Affairs for the treatment of troops injured in service.
"In considering the third-party billing issue, the administration was seeking to maximize the resources available for veterans," White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said Wednesday in a written statement. "However, the president listened to concerns raised by the [veteran service organizations] that this might, under certain circumstances, affect veterans' and their families' ability to access health care.
"Therefore, the president has instructed that its consideration be dropped," Gibbs said.

Can anyone tell me if Shinseki was on board with this travesty.
I have gotten conflicting statements about him being against it. I suspect he was for it before he was against it but wonder if he made any public statements in this matter.
He will hit each and every aspect of his extreme leftist agenda until one or more of them stick.

No, you don’t get it. Obama ordered cuts in the military spending and the private healthcare was actually suggested by the military because all the other cuts were too devastating to our military defense powers. Obama is just calling for the cuts to be made elsewhere.
Obama’s over arching agenda is to establish socialized medicine, which will change the fabric of the country. He needs lots of money to do this, cap and trade and marginalizing the military are all a part of funding socialized medicine.
You can’t have a strong military and socialized medicine at the same time. Look at Europe.
He didn't expect to get himself tagged as the "evil" one refusing to cover our brave wounded veterans.

The VA only provides free medical care for service-related conditions. In other words, if you lose a leg in battle or develop PTSD after a dangerous Special Ops career, we pay for your treatment because your disability resulted from your service to our country.
Obama wanted to rewrite the contract between veterans and the country. I am still amazed at his stupidity, audacity, and lack of shame. What planet does this guy live on?

I agree this was a boneheaded idea. But the irony does not escape me. Outrage that Obama tried to push privatized healthcare on Veterans and then we all come to the defense of VA SOCIALIZED medicine for the vets. Very entertaining indeed.
Never really looked at it from that angle. The guy has lost his mind.
