Kenneth Hale Jr. says his neighbor's Bull Mastiff ventured into his yard several times.
Last week, Hale's three year old daughter was playing in the yard and the dog charged toward her, so he got his gun and shot the dog.
Kenneth Hale says "I feel bad about it I didn't want to shoot the dog, I really didn't and I was hoping he would keep him over there, it was a beautiful dog, it's a bull Mastiff and that dog stands every bit of four feet tall on his back".
Thomas County investigators say Hale contacted them on more than one occasion about the dog.
The owner of the dog could not be reached for comment and authorities would not release his name.
I agree. I have friends that have the English Mastiff and her two males hit about 225lbs. The females being of course a lot smaller. At first, I thought they were talking about the Napolian Mastiff(may not have the name right)and they aren’t as big as the English Mastiff either. I have never seen a really big bulldog mastiff; atleast not the size of an English.
Thank you so much Judith Anne. My friend who has the two male mastiffs. One of them is the son of Sherman and the other is the nephew. If you have heard of Sherman, he was the top mastiff in the country.
This bogus story reminds me of scared trigger happy cops.
‘He was moving toward me in an aggressive manner, he had a shiney object in his hand. I thought it was a gun. Gosh darn, my bad.’
Seeya in a couple weeks guys. Hold the fort down. I’ll be fishin in the gulf if ya need me before then.
I think I saw Sherman on TV in one of the shows? Big, smooth moving fawn male?
I love the OEMs, kindest dogs in the world.
Near Mexico?
That makes sense, if their yard is elevated, the dog will appear taller than it is.
Mastiffs are generally very nice dogs. I have never horseplayed with mine, but the very tall grandsons do, and it’s truly fearsome! They like it, but normal humans should stay far away. :D
Yep, and he has the little chihuahua as a pal. I have seen that big baby on his back on his blanket getting his feet squirted with water between shows. He is every bit as big and beautiful as they say he is. The more apricot fawn.
They are wonderful; aren’t they?
You should hear the big bitch whine when my Dingo is near her. It’s a treat.
Thanks for saving the Old English Mastiffs too.
My Tinker (in photos at the link) has the min-pin for his pet. Amazing how they get along...
Ohhh,,so if theres an aggressive mastif next door, I should just *introduce myself*? And maybe he doesnt make his kid a prisoner inside the house because the neighbor wont control the curr. What you do is let the kid play outside, and go outside armed to protet them. Then it plays out,,,its not using the kid as bait.
Its called living normally in you own yard, and being well prepared for someone (or something) who prevents you from being able to do so.
Its either that or get out the old anti-freeze meatball recipe.
Oops should have said saying the Old English Mastiffs.
One less dead child we have to read about, nice work.
Yes, if a mastiff wants something, and does not get it, it will cry out loud until you give in. At least, mine will.
Never let a mastiff puppy have something that you will deny to him/her later, i.e. sleep in your bed, lay on the couch, eat human food, taste whipped creme....
The writer of this story gets an "F" for details.
Not really, a dog has the same civil rights as a bottle of coke or a TV set. It’s property. You shoot it if you think its a threat. If a judicial someone decides you were wrong, then you hafta write the guy a check for a few hundred bucks. Same as if he left a TV set on your lawn and you threw it away.
This isn’t the same as shooting a person. And the world is FULL of stories of a child that age even playing with their own Pit Bull or Mastif, then pulling its ear wrong and getting killed or mutilated for life. Go dad!
The article doesn’t say the dog was aggressive. It only says that it “ventured” into the neighbors yard. Where are the details in the story? There are none. VERY badly written piece.
Look, the story stinks. Have it your own way. I wouldn’t want to have you in my neighborhood and you would be the first one I look for it a animal turned up dead.
I’d feel bad about it because the idiot owner left me no choice. I’d feel bad because I was forced into the situation because of idiot neighbor negligence and disregard for our safety.
Doesn’t need to be. Would you let a gang member in your yard if he wasnt acting aggressive? Dogs like that often turn on little kids in their owners family. Why on earth take a chance?
