WASHINGTON, March 16 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The leader of the nation's largest veterans organization says he is "deeply disappointed and concerned" after a meeting with President Obama today to discuss a proposal to force private insurance companies to pay for the treatment of military veterans who have suffered service-connected disabilities and injuries. The Obama administration recently revealed a plan to require private insurance carriers to reimburse the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) in such cases.
"It became apparent during our discussion today that the President intends to move forward with this unreasonable plan," said Commander David K. Rehbein of The American Legion. "He says he is looking to generate $540-million by this method, but refused to hear arguments about the moral and government-avowed obligations that would be compromised by it."
The Commander, clearly angered as he emerged from the session said, "This reimbursement plan would be inconsistent with the mandate ' to care for him who shall have borne the battle' given that the United States government sent members of the armed forces into harm's way, and not private insurance companies. I say again that The American Legion does not and will not support any plan that seeks to bill a veteran for treatment of a service connected disability at the very agency that was created to treat the unique need of America's veterans!"

un-flippin believable
We broke ground for huge VA hospital in Orlando last Fall. Want to be it is ever bui;t?
It’s coming, and soon.
If you keep it up, 0bama, you will surpass Jimmah Carter as the worst president ever. And that is saying something (and its only been 60 days).

Many veterans like myself are already doing this....thankfully I do have other insurance. In December I went to the VA clinic to see to get a consult to see a Neurosurgeon or OrthoSpine Surgeon for my service connected disability. Since my appointment in December I have continued to wait for an appointment with a VA specialist, have had an appointment with a private practice specialist, have had all the tests (MRI, CAT Scan, EMG, X-Rays, etc.), have had major surgery on my spine, and if my appointment with the private surgeon is positive next week, I’ll be back to work after being off for 6 weeks.
If the psuedo representatives in Washington gave 2 shiatskis about the vet they would have some accountability in the Veterans Administration....because certainly there is accountability when some poor enlisted guy shoots a terrorist and he’s charged with murder!
And these kooks in D.C. want the government to run healthcare.
One more nail for America’s coffin and the jerk has a fully loaded nail gun.
You have beaten me by a millisecond. Only because I just sent out an email to people with bcc letting everyone know what I think:
We dun nee no Veterans Hospitals. (That’ll teach those good for nothing losers for serving their country.)
Time to change them to Hospitals for the Undocumented and Geographically Challenged

On behalf of those who have served, those injured who Commander Zero wishes to dump to the trash bin:
FUBO
I got the logo and inserted right there. Now some may not be surprised that I don’t regard him highly. Couched it with humor in the beginning, but let me say I find nothing funny about it. It’s how I am choosing to make my point.
I would love to see a nationwide ride to washington/protest.
Start in the Western states and come across I-10, I-20, I-40, I-70, I-80 and I-90 picking up groups along the way with the entire caravan converging on Washington at the same time from all directions.
This is WAY beyond lack of love. This is lack of respect and worse.
That this narcissist could not find a moment to visit the injured in Germany was telling.
But why didn’t everyone know it then? Now it’s no surprise to some of us.
It is however a shock how far he’s willing to go.
What an absolute disgrace.
Notify everyone. Most people know someone who served or a friend in the VFW.
It’s time to fight!
“I have to admit, Im enjoying rubbing some noses in this down at my Post. Its chock full of obedient union Democrats that parrot the talking points. It saddens me.”
Don’t make it personal satisfaction. Make it a point to make them question their judgement.
Show them the article, look them in the eye and say, “Happy now?”
Follow with, “And you thought ignoring the injured servicemen in Germany was an accident?”
Last, end with, “Are you now willing to stand for your brothers who served or what?”
It’s either fight now or be disgraced. There’s no middle ground here.
My apologies as no offense is intended. I am very disturbed by this.
Don’t get it/ Did they have private insurance when they went to Iraq??? This makes no sense...at all.
It would be a wonderful thing if B-O were booed off the stage in conservative Orange County, California this week during his “town hall” appearance there.
I will be on the phone and will have trouble not cursing tomorrow at the Rep./Senators.
I want the Rat party held accountable!
BTW.. to all military retirees
If you have Tricare Prime (I signed up for it when I retired.) It is NOT private insurance despite you having to pay premiums for it.
VA will not ACCEPT Tricare as a health insurance
The game is about taking as many pieces in as few steps as possible.
Reward your left wing allies, destroy and cut down your enemies.
The US military service people are the enemy.
Get it?
Well if you say so. Okay, I’m good now.
I wonder if any real people will be allowed at his “town halls” in California this week. He’ll probably freeze out vets while sucking up to illegals.
