A 95% of the black vote going democrat in 2008 versus a 91% in of the black vote going democrat 2004 makes less than 0.5% difference of the total votes as blacks only represent 13% of the electorate.

Don't forget the huge Hispanic vote which I mentioned.

However, the black vote might be "just" 13% of the vote, but that still represents a huge chunk of the overall vote. So, what I said still stands... if whites vote in approximate equal numbers for democrats and republicans, the many millions of black votes will swing the election to the democrats. It's not just the small fraction which you mentioned.

As I said 91% of black vote verus 95% for the democrats is equivalent to total shift of exactly 0.52% of the total vote based on the fact that blacks represents 13% of the electoral vote. That is not enough to sway the elections.

The White vote went from 58% in 2004 for Republican to 55% in 2008. In other word the democrats went from 16% deficit among White voters in 2004 to a 10% deficit. Based on 75% of the electorate being White this represent a 4.5% shift in the total vote in favor of the democrat.

Republicans just did not get out and vote. You can have this minority, that minority, younger voters (again high percentage), women voters etc.; but it comes down to fact that the Republican Party Elite did not support its own voters. Rush was pushing for Hillary to win over Obama. Well, we know how that failed..but no further mention of that scenario. McCain, a hero, has done a lot for this country; but being a Moderate and lacking a "star" quality on camera which Obama mastered as soon as he walked out of the surf in Hawaii with a big smile on his face.
