Thank you for providing the link and I did read it.
I agree 100% with your commentary
But I think he would also agree that broad generalizations ie. “blacks only vote for welfare” are not a reflection of Conservative principals.
I live in a diverse suburban upscale community just east of Columbus OH. My neighbors are 2 doctors (black), pharmacist (white), real estate agents(white), dual income state employees(black) and even a local strip join owner(white). I talk to them, I saw who had what signs in their yards. Welfare is NOT the primary voting motivation of these people and my little sub division was divided largely along racial lines.
I changed the status of the thread to locked.
TV is our biggest enemy.
.....Conservatives only have the truth.
Unfortunately there are too many ‘conservatives’ who are like Pontius Pilate. “What is truth”. They don’t recognize the truth when they see it.
As someone said in the duplicate thread of this article, it is not conservatives who have to evolve to attract minorities, it is minorities who must evolve before they are capable of embracing Conservative concepts.
And their growth and development is stunted by revisionist depts of education and treasonous MSM outlets.
This hope that they can be avoided, or worse, paid for by someone else, simply cannot be, no matter how much we wish it.
But the people to whom I broach this topic simply will not hear it. Therefore, I believe we are in for a national reality check. For the sake of all concerned, I hope it comes swiftly and thoroughly. The longer it takes, the more and greater, will be the suffering.
A majority of blacks vote democrat because they want more governments handouts, entitlements and affirmative actions. That is the fact.
Generalization is not 100% but it is a majority. Based on your posting you think that generalization encompasses a 100% of a certain population but it does not. You are giving an example of two black doctors in your neighborhood and telling us that they do not just vote democrat because of welfare. Of course they will not just vote democrat because of welfare since they are making money and a lot of it. However these two are a minority among blacks and in your case you took the minority case and you want to make it a general case to build your argument.

BUT...
Plenty vote conservative on social issues. Gay marriage in CA died not because of the Mormons but rather the minority votes against it.
Hard to sort all of this out.
But... for them economics trump any social issue and that is why Republicans did not get more than 20% of the black vote in the last 50 years.

Yeah a ballot vote a few months ago in California, that really has equal weight with all the generations of voting that preceeded it and that took place along side it.
How about we repeal the 1965 Immigration and Nationality Act. Disband ALL race based political and lobbying groups starting with the Black Caucus & The Hispanic Caucus & go from there?
...something bothers me about this, bump...
Wanna know how we can win over minorities?
Make commercials that put racist Democrats in the spotlight. Start with the gun control laws after the civil war, and go up to today.
It will be quite effective.

*Bumping* this OUTSTANDING column.
In 1960, Nixon got forty-five percent of the Black vote. In 1964 Goldwater only got about twenty percent. It's been declining ever since. But why did Goldwater, who was not racist, get far less Black votes than Nixon? Steele briefly mentions the Goldwater debacle. Goldwater opposed the 1964 Civil Rights bill in its entirety. A good part of the bill certainly was flawed, but when Goldwater rejected the bill (he later said he made a mistake), that doomed the GOP in the minds of many Black voters. The GOP became the party of evil, white racists who wanted to keep minorities down.
That perception, wrong as it is, has remained in the consciousness of Black americans ever since. If today Republicans got forty percent of the Black vote, there would be virtually no Democrats in congress.
