After a break in the action, we will be FR covering the 40th annual NHRA SuperNationals at Englishtown, NJ on June 1214. The SuperNationals is the 5th oldest NHRA event, tied with the Gatornationals. We also previously posted the results of the last three NHRA Full Throttle events at Bristol, Topeka, and Chicago, with related photos, comments, and additional other information. . . and one major rant (Posts #290-298). I will be posting a "Countdown to 10" mid-season update, and selected other catch-up info and rants, after the conclusion of the SuperNationals. This is already shaping up to be one of the strangest NHRA championship drag racing seasons I can remember. But there has been some great racing with many different winners.
I also wanted to post the below special announcement. This is something I do with my daughter when she comes home for the summer to see the ol' man. Hope everyone is doing fantastic and having a great summer start! ~ fla
Mother: . . getting John's autograph
John: Let me hold your baby so you can get a pic
Mom: John she's real picky. Thanks but probably not the best idea
John: Nawww kids love me *grabbing the baby. Baby starts screaming and crying*
Mother: Sorry, maybe she doesn't like the Old Spice cologne you are wearing
John: No way, that ol' sailor smell is great. Sides gotta support our sponsors!

The 4th week of May, the European outdoor rock festivals began and run through the end of June. Many of these massive 3-4 day festivals used to be simulcast live, including the #1 European rock festival(some say #1 in the World) being the Rock Am Ring which is held at the legendary Nürburgring racetrack in Germany. Corporate greed got in the way and the simulcasts went silent in 2008. The Download Festival, previously Monsters of Rock, simulcast for the first time in 2007, sponsored by AT&T. The quality was good and there were a number of outstanding performances (see list of performers). Festival organizers recently announced they will simulcast again this year. You must have a broadband connection with a good computer to watch these simulcasts. In 2007, the simulcast was a Microsoft Windows Media Player streaming format which could not only be watched but also recorded (all simulcast videos are in personal archive, along with many other Euro festivals, '07 Live Earth, and more.). The simulcast format for this year is currently unknown. Additional information will be posted here, on the NHRA thread, as it becomes available. On a side note, the Formula 1 British Grand Prix is moving to Donington Park in 2010. ~ fla
FlA Says: Some great live performance videos were posted(all are in personal archive) including from the German Rock Am Ring festivals, which was produced and broadcast by the legendary Rockpalast via WDR TV. RAR '07 Velvet Revolver, Evanescence, and Smashing Pumpkins are outstanding. RAR '05 Billy Idol, with his 80's heyday guitarist Steve Stevens, is incredible. I didn't know Billy was still around. After watching the video I checked out his new '05 Devil's Playground album which is excellent. It's great when the old rockers can still kick the newer bands butts.

For some reason, when Ashly Force lost in the final on Sunday I was not surprised.
Congrats to Pedragon for a great win however.
Cheers,
