Special Atlanta Wrap

02.08.09: In the off-season, 1320 TV(internet) decided to suspend operations. They produced hundreds of great behind-the-scenes interviews with NHRA drivers, crew chiefs, owners, and more. Hopefully, another group(s) will come forward to fill the void. We will also be on the lookout for locally produced television stations' NHRA event related videos and from other local/regional sources. ~ FlA

45th Ford Mustang Anniversary

Video

Sat, 04.18.09: (Back-Front) Tim Wilkerson, Mike Neff, Bob Tasca III, Robert Hight, John Force, and Ashley Force Hood. All six NHRA Full Throttle Ford Mustang Funny Car drivers are with Mike Neff's Ford Drive One Funny Car at the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Southern Nationals at Atlanta Dragway. Mike, Robert, John, and Ashley all drive for John Force Racing. For 2009, Tim and Bob formed a strategic alliance between their two NHRA Funny Car organizations. The objectives were for Wilkerson's Levi, Ray & Shoup Mustang team and Tasca's Motorcraft/Quick Lane Shelby Mustang team to improve performance by sharing information, and enhance their collective marketing exposure and sponsorship attractiveness. The relationship is already paying dividends on both fronts. Bob won his first "Wally" at the Gatornationals and Mandalay Bay sponsored both Funny Cars for the recent SummitRacing.com NHRA Nationals in Las Vegas.
Tim Wilkerson was nothing short of amazing last year. Particularly in view of the fact that his team is not a big budget operation. Per his NHRA profile, edited/adds: In 2008, Wilkerson enjoyed his best season on record with six wins in seven final-round appearances, one more win than he earned in his previous 11 years combined. Tim entered the Countdown to the Championship playoffs first in the Points Standings. He led the points for the first four Countdown events but dropped to second after a first-round loss to Mike Neff at the NHRA Las Vegas Nationals(event 23 of 24). A first-round loss to John Force at the NHRA Finals, Pomona officially ended his bid for the Championship title. ~ fla, Courtesy: Video, John Force Racing ~ Original Photo, Ford Motor Company
