Your right, it's not an involuntary deployment. I think what the good colonel meant was that they will be required to deploy as opposed to troops that have volunteered which the ANG/AFR has done numerous times in the past. Sometimes the AF doesn't do a good job communicating with the press. As for filling a part time commitment, they have no problem as they do this all the time. I should know, because I served over there with many of these guys/gals in the past. They do a hell of a job.

For the record, intent of my post wasn't to belittle anyone's service full or part time (I am active Duty). However, it gets annoying to hear people complaining to the press, that they're being "forced," or its "involuntary." It makes it easier to drum support against the mission. It seems that the Guard and Reserve types are most often depicted in the "news" complaining that college is why they signed.... they shouldn't have to meet any other obligation besides free college.
