“And when Quinn the Eskimo gets here, everybody’s gonna want to go”. A friend of mine told me about the taxes in Cook County, which includes not only the City of Chicago but many suburbs. To get money to pay for absolute necessities, the Dem County Exec. (or whatever his title is) decided to once more soak the Republican suburbs in the county and reportedly raised the local sales tax to about 10 percent. You can cross the Cook County border (often the other side of the same street in the ‘burbs’) to suburban DuPage County and pay only 7 percent sales tax for the same items. Obviously, if you have a store on the wrong side of the county line, you’re paying in lost sales, not that this bothers the powers that be.
You are absolutely right. TEN percent!
We drive to Lake county routinely to buy ANYTHING.
Absolute craven idiots!
