Ok
I stand corrected.
He took some spending out so he could put his spending in!

Still, he could have pushed to put tax cuts in, and he did not.

What a jerk!

Republican Sen. Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania is another key member who is wavering. Though he voted with Democrats in 2007, he now says, “I’m still thinking about it.” He added, “I’m being lobbied on it very, very heavily.”

“I feel good about it,” Durbin said. “A number of Republicans have indicated that with the amendments that they requested, they’ll be able to consider it.”

Specifically, GOP Sens. Chuck Grassley of Iowa and Kit Bond of Missouri may be thawing their opposition to the bill. Grassley told The Hill on Monday that he is undecided on the cloture vote, and Bond dodged the question.

“Openly and honestly,” Bond joked when asked how he will vote. “We’ll find out for sure tomorrow.”

Crossover support could also come from Sen. Arlen Specter (R-Pa.); a senior GOP aide said he would be surprised if Bond and Specter don’t support the omnibus. Support from Florida’s other senator, Republican Mel Martinez, could also come because of the Cuba provision concessions, as well as from Sen. Robert Menendez (D-N.J.), who had also announced opposition because of the provisions.
