Banks are on the brink, the stock market is in a torpor, and one of todays hottest topics at the daily White House briefing was Rush Limbaugh, whom Democrats are trying to hang around the neck of the Republican party.
Robert Gibbs, press secretary for President Barack Obama, was asked if the White House had been complicit in the maneuver and was not that hypocritical when considering Obamas emphasis on getting past partisan sniping?
Heres Gibbs answer on C-Span:

Coward. Throw a limp punch and then try to deflect blame when the guy tosses one right back and crumbles your jaw.
Obama is a wimp. Just surprising it took him this long to meet someone who would have no fear of swatting him down.
Only fools engage Rush in a battle they cannot win. It’s not only that Rush can defend himself, or his philosophy. It’s not only that he has accumlated wealth and contacts and has a powerful medium to counter any attack. It’s that he’s probably one of the few if not only Republican left we’ll go to the mat for to defend simply because he does stand up for conservative principles at cost to himself when so many do not. And because we know Rush is being used as a surrogate to attack us and the principles we have in common. Therefore an attack on him is taken personally because it could and really is an attack on us as well.
O is a physical coward—just like Bubba. God help us if a foreign country starts a war,he’ll hide under a table or under his wife’s skirt!
Maybe tapes of Rush’s show should be played late in the day to catch the “driving home” crowd. ought to add another twenty million or so who are at work during the day. Think about it.
He's even smarter than that. This is Rush's version of the Kobayashi Maru... a no win situation. Buried in his monologue today was an allusion to the fairness doctrine. Simply put, Obama loses either way because if he declines to accept, it makes his philosophical position (on the fairness doctrine) contradictory. It would give Rush, and by extension, conservative talk radio in general, the intellectual upper hand. I think by know the White House knows this and realizes their profound mistake.
Trust a Democrat to protest too much and say exactly what he doesn’t mean.
I dunno. So much of this garbage from Obama Inc. reminds me of Clinton’s remarks when he was president. The more things change, the more they stay the same. At least with Democrats.
Before there was Obama and Gibbs, there was Clinton and Carville. Buffoons, all of them. But the press still looks up to them.
That's right, they made Rush much more important and that much more influential. They provided conservatives an opportunity to fight back and legitimized conservatism in one fell swoop. It was like Rush's Doolittle moment.
I have to disagree about this being stupid on the part of the White House. It was fairly predictable that Rush would fight back, and be supported by conservatives, and that when it happened the WH would back off. But in the mean time, the Dems drew a line in the sand for the RINOs, and showed how they would be labeled and attacked if they actually supported any conservative oppositions to their policies.
Think it through - if you’re a conservative, your response to this is to declare your agreement with Rush. But if you’re a RINO, what side do you take now? Hell, you don’t dare say a word, and that’s exactly where the WH wants you - silenced.
This is about DEMONIZATION, and “Framing” the debate the way THEY want it.
They want to peel off 1-2% of our voters by making it uncool to be seen as a supporter of “Right-Wing Racists and Hate-Mongers!”
They figure they can do this by making a fat, angry, white guy (EXACT QUOTE from Daily KOS) the titular head of the Party.
You wouldn’t want your college buddies and co-workers to think you a RACIST, now would you???
This is from KOS:
“Obama and DNC break off another 2% of the electorate from the GOPers, they get to dominate the 2010 and 2012 elections.
Middle of the Road voters — conservative financially, moderate for everything else — YES !!
The GOPers are in deep trouble.
The queue of subservient, bent over, ass presenting elected GOPers gets any longer — its over for them.
Limbaugh is physically repulsive.
I think it is possible that sucking up to Limbaugh will cost the GOPers that 2% of the electorate.
Vote ??? — Think George Bush. — Then think Rush Limbaugh. — Then try to vote Republican.”
Rush is RIGHT to fight back against this, and put the ball in Obama’s court, which is something I don’t believe they expected him to do. After all, EVERYONE is supposed to fear the power of government, and divine MEssiahs!!
REMEMBER, this is being driven by the KOS media moonbats. And the administration made a HUGE mistake in picking it up.
America’s most important question is :
Who leads the DNC?
Answer: George Soros!
Obama is indeed getting scared that the collapse of the economy will be blamed on him. The carnage is accelerating at a much higher pace while he sits atop the throne. He much rather would have had more of a “controlled burn” of the economy that lasted a little longer and that looked like it was Bush’s fault.
Too smart by 'alf, apparently. The facts are these:
1. Obama promised a chicken in every pot.
2. The chicken plants are closing and going bankrupt.
3. Chicken plant employees voted for Obama, now they have no chicken, and no jobs, so cannot even buy eggs.
4. Rush is angry over what Obama Inc. are doing to the people of this country.
5. Obama-ites say Rush is being "counterproductive".
6. This makes Average Joe even more furious at Obama Nation.
7. Obama Press People insult the people even more.
I don't think this admin is mentally "tracking".
There used to be two radio stations in Houston that did that. One was live, the other was on during drive-time. I missed it when I had to move.
I just saw a poll in the WSJ that shows ‘strong’ support for BO. 42% think country is on right track, up from 12% in the fall. 82& think BO inherited this economy (crappy, too general question) so he’s got more honeymoon than I had hoped. But, yes, it is so sad there are so many uninformed people out there. I pray for the country every night.
So Dear leader is chickening out on his debate with Rush?? I wish I could spell the chicken noise.
So Dear Leader is all bluster and no fight!

Obama owns this Depression, which is why I think it should be called the Obama Depression.
It will be interesting to see which goes down in flames faster, Obama himself or his ego.
