I sometimes wonder if the powers that be in the Democratic Party are ever embarrassed by the people they nominate?

They suffer from terminal brainburn from too much dope or too much booze, or a combination of both.

I'm trying to think of a single Democrat who does not regularly say or do things that indicate brain damage and I can't identify a single one.

How in the heck do these people get elected in the first place?

The powers that be in the dem party would only be embarrassed if he weren’t left-wing enough. They pushed for, and got their radical. Now we all suffer for it.
