Limbaugh's latest attacker: RNC's Steele By: Jonathan Martin March 2, 2009 12:07 PM EST
On the same night he was offering the keynote address to the Conservative Political Action Conference, Rush Limbaugh drew criticism from an unlikely source: Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele.
In a little-noticed interview Saturday night, Steele dismissed Limbaugh as an entertainer whose show is incendiary and ugly.
Steeles criticism makes him the highest-ranking Republican to pick a fight with the popular and polarizing conservative talk show host.
But the new RNC chairmans extraordinary comments wont sit well with the millions of conservative listeners Limbaugh draws each week, and Steele aides scrambled to limit the damage Monday morning by trying to change the subject.
Rahm Emanuel and the Democrats know they lose an argument with the Republican Party on substance so they are building straw men to attack and distract, said RNC spokesman Alex Conant.
The feud between radio host Rush Limbaugh and Rahm Emanuel makes great political theater, but it is a sideshow to the important work going on in Washington. RNC Chairman Michael Steele and elected Republicans are focused on fighting for reform and winning elections. The Democrats problem is that the American people are growing skeptical of the massive government spending being pushed by Congressional leaders like Nancy Pelosi.
Limbaugh, asked to respond, said hed save his counter-attack for his listeners.
Ill handle it on the radio, he wrote in an e-mail.
In an interview on CNN with D.L. Hughley, Steele assured that he, not Limbaugh, was in charge of the party before saying that he wanted to put the right-wing talker into context.
Rush Limbaugh is an entertainer, Steele said. Rush Limbaugh, his whole thing is entertainment. Yes its incendiary, yes its ugly.

Wow. Yes he is. Im loving it. It is going to be interesting to see where this goes. Sadly, its my opinion this is exactly what the Obama people wanted. I hope they fix it, But I agree with Rush 100%
Does the RNC have a recall provision?
_______
Given that these statements have been out in the public domain for quite a while, one might have expected the voters to know who they were voting for.
Steele: Society should draw lines. What do you need an assault weapon for, if you’re going hunting? That’s overkill.

And just who are we supposed to give our money, support and votes to then? All this dump the GOP talk is just what the Democrats want. Last I looked there were two viable parties in the US and only two. One was filled with Marxist hate-America firsters and the other had some liberals, some moderates and some conservatives. I will cast my lot with the party that I have at least something in common with and work to make it better before I will cut off my nose to spite my face.
OK. So you don't listen to be entertained, you listen 'cuz you're in the choir and you like to be preached to.
Not a lot of difference there IMO.
What Rush is NOT doing is bringing new conservatives to the ranks, which is likely what one needs a leader to do.
“Okay, now I’m convinced that the fix is in between Rush and Steele.”
I’m not seeing that at all. But I’ve been wrong before ;-)
To me this just plays into Rahm’s E’s statement and intent on Schieffer’s program.
“Im as mad as you are, but why not screw Steele rather than screw the GOP? Lets take our wrath out on Steele, specifically.”
Unfortunatly, this is becomming a pattern with the GOP. The “appeal to the moderates/swing-voters” crowd consistently runs down the base of the party.
You all attacked me without even answering the 2 questions that I asked:
1) Would you quit your marriage if you had troubles in it - I HOPE not! I’d hope you’d work to make it better!
2) Did you really ever get involved besides just voting - You know its is like doing the minimum for your family - and expectiing to see good results in your kids, spouse, and home! To see a better result - you have to actually WORK at it!
Answer those first before you criticize me - or can you?
The RNC is: STILL STUPID!
Rush just blew-up that gambit. {And had to rough-up Steele in the process.}
Dow just dropped before 7,000. Back to topic.
P.S. I do not approve of Steel - but all we have LEFT in the Party are RINOS! What did you expect?
If conservatives were back in there in numbers instead of RINOS - Ken Blackwell could have been the winner!
Below 7,000. (not before). Thanks, commiebama.
And if Rush does?
Thanks.
He talks about black self-empowerment, quality education, mentions pro-life, takes the Dems to task for failing schools in Baltimore and takes ownership as the head of the Republican party when told the Limbaugh is the head of the party. He also says that Limbaugh is an entertainer, which he is, that he is incendiary. which he proudly is and that he gets ugly which I take exception to. He also called DL on the left’s 8 years of attacks on George Bush getting him to admit that the attacks go both ways. I really don’t see that much wrong with what he said. Do I disagree with him on the ugly remark yes, but other than that it was a pretty good showing in a hostile environment.
Sorry, but I do not owe you or anyone else a “justification” for my opinion.
My point to you was that you are begging all of us to do “more of the same”, expecting a different outcome. My experience tells me that the same input will equal the same output in the vast majority of cases. Certainly, that is the exact formula I have witnessed within the R party over the last several years.
Finally, I did not criticize you, FRiend. I stated that I specifically disagreed with your opinion on this matter.
So, to help you understand why the tone of your inquiry is so wrong, let me rephrase your two little questions:
1) There is no point in an abusive marriage where the abused has the right to sever ties with the abuser. Wouldn’t you agree?
2) Have you, personally, done enough to satisfy the arbitrary rules proposed by person X, who specifically reserves the right to disallow any points they might disagree with?
Answer those two questions first before you mischaracterize disagreement in opinion as personal criticism - or can you?
Oh well. I guess Rush doesn’t have class. He did single out Steele.

Never elect moderates. These are people have accepted the mores of social liberalism, ie those who have fallen for Social Marxism. They only “grow” with the media.
Michael Steele... chair of the D-LNC (Dem-Lite National Committee). I thought he’ll fight the DEMS — not Rush!!
