China's lunar probe, the Chang'e I crashed on to the surface of the moon on Sunday, marking an end to the first lunar mission by the country.
The landing served as a way to pave the way for future missions and gave Chinese scientists a dress rehearsal for planning and executing future missions. In 2011, the country is planning to send a lunar rover to the moon with the Chang'e II probe. The mission will involve a crash landing on to the lunar surface.
The current landing gave an opportunity for the China National Space Administration to get a grip on the entire procedure. Before crash landing, the Chang'e I, named after the Chinese moon Goddess, collected extensive data and mapped the surface of the moon.
China's ambitious space plans include a manned mission to the moon by 2020. The country last year had also managed to complete a space walk, a highly complex maneuver making it one of the few countries with such capabilities.
Please keep your junk within your screwed up country and not in the air or in the collective atmosphere.
Thanks.
Will the manned mission in 2020 also be a planned crash landing?
Only if they have the same hope as they did for Chang’e!
A Chinese three-point landing.
Hope'e, Chang'e, what's the difference? |
why is everyone so negative on something the chinese controlled and that we have had less fortune with? we had 2 hit eachother and come back into our atmosphere, they planned it and it hit the moon YET some people are still irate at them for nothing.
i dont get what gives.
Neil Li Armstrong was out sick, Wong Wei was flying the remote lander back in mission control.
Because the dimwits don't know what a controlled impact crash is.
Many here are thinking that the landing was a failure, rather than a planned maneuver.
Thank you. I get the feeling that debris on the moon will be a lot less harmful than our sattelites colliding and spraking all over NA. I didn’t see much outrage then and if there was at all, surely it was blamed on O.
I try to be unbiased and usually am, but...theres so much negativity, the chinese do something on purpose and some people still find a fault and blame them..it boggles me!
I’n finding the comments here lately more full of hate/spite than fact. ok i appreciate a forum where everyone can speak their mind but when its 80% looking for a reason to belittle someone/somewhere else, sorta freaks me out.
whatever makes ppl tick i guess, but cmon has anybody thought about the pictures that the chinese craft caught before crashing? it was launched for pics of the moon.
yet, it’s all china’s fault, and obamas right?........
