My guess is that this is a communication snafu. I doubt he truly understands what Rush ACTUALLY said with regard to this.

A setup by the MSM. It doesn't appear that Cantor was quick enough and smart enough to see through it and challenge the premise.

Anyone over the age of seven knows what Rush said. If Cantor does not have the mental facilities of a seven-year-old, he has no business being in Congress. If he is being PC and not saying out loud how he really feels, then don’t say anything.

Then he should have answered something like, "I haven't heard all of Rush Limbaugh's comments yesterday."

Cantor has to stand for election and as such cannot be advocating failure. Limbaugh gets to sit on the sidelines and say whatever he wants (as he should).

Is it that hard for people to recognize the distinction?

You have a valid point.

But the question was a trap.

And instead of making his way around the trap, Mr. Cantor chose to jump right into the trap.

The best answer would have been something like, "I want the American people to succeed. And I want us to get back no track with real economic growth and real opportunities. But we Republicans have serious differences with the President on policy issues, and where we disagree, I intend to communicate our alternative, our message of hope and change based on our stronger principles and beliefs."

See this video of Alan Keyes. No communication snafu here:

[Alan Keyes on “PopModal.com” calls Hussein Obama a “communist” and a “usurper.”]

I doubt he truly understands what Rush ACTUALLY said with regard to this.

Matters not, he understood what he himself said, and it was clearly not in line with conservative feelings on the issue.
