President Obama's chief of staff said conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh is the de facto leader of the Republican Party, and suggested that Limbaugh's desire for the president's policies to fail is the uniform position of the GOP.
Chief of staff Rahm Emanuel said Limbaugh is the "intellectual force" of the GOP and Republicans now have to live with that choice.
"He is the voice and the intellectual force and energy behind the Republican Party. And he has been up front about what he views, and hasn't stepped back from that, which is he hopes for failure. He said it. And I compliment him for his honesty, but that's their philosophy that is enunciated by Rush Limbaugh. And I think that's the wrong philosophy for America," Emanuel said on CBS' "Face the Nation."
On Saturday, Limbaugh gave an hour-and-a-half speech to cap off the three-day Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington, D.C. Limbaugh said it's fine for Republicans to criticize Obama's plans and Republicans must return to their core philosophies.
He added that Obama's plan won't restore prosperity and that's why he wants it to fail.

When it comes to the economy, when it comes to job creation, when it comes to health care reform our deficit reduction, there are three words to describe the Bush-McCain record: mission not accomplished.
Rahm Emanuel
At Democratic National Convention, August 2008.
There’s no safe Republican district. You can run, but you cannot hide.
Rahm Emanuel
The chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee in August 2005.
I still believe the Lewinsky investigation was way off from the focus of what Whitewater was, which turned out to be nothing at the end of the process. And I think that there were people who were determined as political opponents to not allow his presidency to succeed.
Rahm Emanuel
The former senior advisor to US President Bill Clinton, during CNN discussion about history’s judgment of President Clinton, November 2004.
I don’t think that period of time was the finest hour for journalists. I don’t think it was the finest hour for the judicial system, the finest hour also for Washington as kind of a city or a town.
Rahm Emanuel
On Kenneth Starr’s President Clinton/Lewinsky investigation, CNN news, November 2004.
I wake up some mornings hating me too.
Rahm Emanuel
On his reputation as Democratic attack dog, Chicago Tribune November 2002.
“I WANT OBAMA TO **SUCCEED**..
as a parent. In everything else, I want him to fail miserably.”
Actually I don’t think you want him to succeed as a parent either, or he’ll raise two little arrogant, conceited communists like himself.
Cantor and Steele need to learn how to answer this question. They totally fell into the trap and blew it. They don’t repudiate Rush and these headlines completely twist their sentiment that they want America to do well. This is an obvious Dem strategy that needs to be forcefully responded to by fighting Dems not each other.
These folks are true Fascists. Dissent won’t be tolerated eh? Even the DU’ers must see this crap coming down.
"I am Rushtacus!"
See my “about” page.
Great tagline!!!
Limbaugh had better make sur ehis taxes are squeeky clean and he doesn’t even so much as jaywalk or else the Fuhrer, oops, I mean Obama will have the FBI, the IRS and any other agency to try and discredit Limbaugh.
Obama and Emmanuel are dirty Chicago politicans with the full power of the Federal Government and are extremely dangerous to those who stand in their way.
Clinton’s were amateurs comapred to the Chicago thugs.
Instead, they tear him down which means they are afraid he is effective.
Just like what they tried to do to Sarah.
And ALL of us have a responsibility to state, calmly and nicely (and use humor a la Rush) in our daily lives, this common sense, whenever politics are brought up. In your offices, your families, your circles of acquaintances.
One of the main reasons the extreme left scooped up and promoted Barack Obama was his tannish skin. With him came the trump card of White Guilt, to help push policies past all the guilty handwringers. Alinsky tactics trump stammering white inferiority.
Here's the secret, though: common sense trumps Alinsky shaming and guilt! Keep talking. Race as a concept is meaningless. It's a parlor trick. Don't let it work on you no matter what you look like. We are Americans. Who cares whether your genetics came from India, Africa, Asia, Europe, or Jupiter? Common sense will blow these tricksters out of the water.
A teeny "sandbox reduction" example: When one kid tries to shame another kid because he, say, has a big nose, the kid with the larger nose says "Yeah, it is bigger. I was born with it, it's mine, and I don't care. What I like to do is play baseball." (Or read science fiction. Or raise goats. It doesn't matter. He reflects and deflates the insult.) To deflate Alinsky mockery by the left, just say "Limbaugh's right. This country was built upon individual freedom being already provided to us by G-d (or nature if you are talking to atheists, whatever), and controls on government to stay out of the way. Obama seems not to have read our founding documents, or maybe he doesn't believe in them. Do you?"
Until our leaders, Cantor, Boehner, Steele, whoever, realize that Obama needs to be THE target, they will keep missing the mark.
This budget, these bailouts are Obama and Rahm’s babies. The Republicans are dancing around the edges of trying to attack these programs instead of going for the leaders of this disaster.
Santelli didn’t hesitate to call out Obama and his “New Administraion” and ask if they were listening.
Rush wants Obama to fail because he wants the country to survive and succeed.
While these Republicans are scared of Obama’s approval ratings, the country is headed to Socialism at full speed. Now is not the time to be cautious. Now is the time for them to be bold.
Is that like Spartacus, but different?
Rush. Tell your listeners to contact their “representatives” to dump the “fairness doctrine” (not fair, and not a doctrine) once and for all.
Rahm Emanuel was a strong supporter of the Iraq war
So, while the new Chief of Staff for the Obama administration had reservations about the conduct of the war, he nevertheless whole-heartedly defended the invasion of Iraq. As late as January 2005
In January 2005, when asked by Meet the Press’s Tim Russert whether he would have voted to authorize the war-”knowing that there are no weapons of mass destruction”-Emanuel answered yes. (He didn’t take office until after the vote.) “I still believe that getting rid of Saddam Hussein was the right thing to do, okay?” he added.

Emanuel Statement On President Bush’s Budget
February 4, 2008
Washington, D.C. - House Democratic Caucus Chairman Rahm Emanuel issued the following statement on President Bush’s budget proposal and a
chart outlining the deficits included in President Bush’s budgets. Emanuel’s statement and chart are below:
“One thing we can say about President Bush and his budgets: at least he’s consistent. President Bush has run deficits for seven straight years, and this year is no different. The President has submitted a budget that would saddle America with one of the largest budget deficits in history, while cutting health care for seniors and education for our children. Democrats will propose a budget that is balanced and is balanced with our priorities.”
If Rush is a barrier to Obama’s socialism, then every American should be for it.
And we need to applaud them for it, because our own "leaders" on the right have always been too scared or jealous of Rush to do it.
Thanks, Rahm and Barack!
It isn’t actually “Rush’s Message” as much as it is Rush’s ability to articulate what most of us already know and believe.
He isn’t our brain as much as our voice.
Straight out of the Alinsky playbook.
This is an unprecedented strategy by the president of the USA to attack a private citizen.
And what these bozos haven't figured out is how to fight back when the other side starts adapting their tactics.
