What about the moderate, effervescent, "Compassionate Conservatism?
Where basically Bush wanted to apologize to everyone in the DBM/dem party for being a little conservative, maybe.
Gee whiz, will you guys get off Bushes back already? This is not about him.
The best 10 ideas as expounded by Rush Limbaugh:
1)Don’t treat the voters like children and pander to what you think they want; instead tell them what is right, try to persuade them and hopefully they will learn and oonvert.
2)Conservatives mistakenly ASSUME that the American people know what conservatism is all about. Instead they allow the opposition to define them.
3)”We don’t want to tell anybody how to live. That’s up to you. (This may be the most important line of his whole speech.)
4)”I want anyone who believes in life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness to succeed. And I want any force, any person, any element of an orcharching Big Government that would stop your success, I want that organization, that element or that person to fail. I wnat you to succeed.”
5)”And if you start thinking of yourself as a minority, you’re going to be defensive. And you’ll allow the majority to set the agenda and the premise and you’re responding to it.”
6) “We can take this country back. All we need is to NOMINATE THE RIGHT CANDIDATE. It’s no more complicated than that.”
7)The idea of Obama being unfair to punish people for entrepreurial desire and ability and hard work
“The people that make this country work, the people who pay their mortgages, the people getting up and going to work, striving in this recession to not participate in it, they’re not the enemy.”
“We can’t have a great country and growing economy with more and more people being told they have a right...to the earnings of others.”
8)”...for intelleectuals, pseudo-intellectuals and all liberals, it’s all about control. It’s not about raising revenue.” (Dr. Friedrich Von Hayek)
9)”Spending a nation into generational debt is not an act of compassion.”
10)”...I want Barack Obama to fail in his mission...to restructure and reform this country, so that capitalism and individual liberty are not its foundation...Why would I want that to succeed?...I want the country to survive. I want the country to succeed.”
Yes, what we are seeing now are the results when “compassionate conservatism” is followed up by “economic justice”.
