Honest wasn't what came to my mind, frankly. When I read your comment I immediately thought of a comment Madonna made right after her marriage to Guy Ritchie. She said English people are so much smarter than Americans. It's that weird combination of wanting to please a certain group of people and not getting the irony of what you're saying.
