I do think that is changing. My concern is that we’ve gone so far down the road of people not having, or knowing how to use, weapons, that we could be in big trouble WHEN they start to say “it’s time.”

The gun business, particularly the assault weapon and ammunition sides of it, is booming. Go online to any of the larger manufacturers; in most cases you will find a minimum 4-month wait, and some companies are no longer accepting orders. Ditto ammunition; retailers sell out shipments of 2-300,000 rounds within days, and many have been sold out of certain calibers for months. On some websites and in some stores, prices for both weapoons and ammunition have nearly doubled.
As far as training goes, any tactical pistol or carbine course where I live is booked solid into the summer.
People are arming themselves, and they are training. That's what a free citizenry does when faced with a tyrannical despot.

The issue of the average citizen’s knowledge of weapons and fighting is important and will have to be addressed by those with military training and combat experience. I have no military background but have taken four 5-day courses at Gunsite as my major training. Each course was a valuable learning experience that made me realize exactly how little I knew about the effective practical use of firearms in real world situations. I now consider myself to be minimally qualified to engage in an organized fight, my big drawback being my lack of any combat time. Those persons who recently bought a rifle and shot it a few times off a bench rest would find themselves woefully unprepared in a fight against any organized force.

In Pennsylvania, we have a reported 1,000,000 deer hunters. Assume 50% are conservative and have some special love of America and all she represents. Assume that 50% of that number would defend their homeland and their way of life.
Even assuming half of that number would consider taking direct action and you have 125,000.
PA is considered a Blue state.
