I was once part of the hand-wringing, worried about what the government is proposing to do instead of what they are actually doing crowd. The only place that gets us is to the MD's office for ulcers.
I read yesterday that this porkulus bill will outspend FDR by a long shot. Folks are worried about a mileage tax when they should be worried about a dollar bill being worth fifty cents and needing a wheelbarrow full to buy a loaf of bread.

I think you’d agree that they key to coming back to reality is to recognize that “the government” doesn’t do much of what people think it might do (e.g., “FICA warrantless wiretaps”) because in many cases it is impossible in reality to actually implement and execute in the real world what’s being asserted that government “can do” or “does do”.
