They want to track it via a GPS. Disconnecting the odometer cable won’t help you. I find myself far more prone to cuss these days. I’m resisting the urge to cuss now, cast aspersions on their ancestry, and otherwise suggest how these b@st@rds <===oops, slipped through, should be dealt with.

It won’t happen with GPS. Too unwieldy.
See my #37 above.
The requirements for auto retroconvert, system infrastructure, tracking systems, personnel, staffing, taxing agency, etc. are staggering.
There really aren’t enough technical people around to build this kind of a system for the feds, and it would take a decade, minimum, if ever.
Not to mention that it would suck BILLIONS from the economy.
It’ll be odometers, and even that will be a huge logistics problem (aka “expensive resource sucking government farrago”) and cause a great deal of political downside for the Rats.
Seriously, for those of us without GPS - will we be ordered to buy one for our vehicles? And if so, why can't we get a coupon to get one for free like the digital coupon for TV?
And if we don't have to get a GPS, how will they track our mileage. Will we have to go to a new government beauracracy station every Jan. 1st to have the Official Mileage Checker person post our mileage on Official Mileage Checker Form No. xxxxxxx?
They will NOT connect or mount any device to either of my two '68 numbers-matching cars. They can not keep me from disconnecting them in my newer vehicles. I already disconnected one in my '07 that GM/Onstar put in it.
