States that opt for a free market economy instead of grabbing the socialist pork should mount a marketing campaign based on that fact. Almost all of my non-grocery shopping is done on line and I’d go out of my way to patronize their merchants.

Well, the governors can reject the money. If the SCOTUS upholds the constitutionality of the zinger that was slid into the bill, at least they can say they tried.....and then still get the money.

In this particular instance, I wouldn't look at this as abhorrent doublespeak. It's dang good strategery and the refusing governors are protected no matter the outcome of the stimulus package and whether they have to take the money or not. I hope everyone gets my drift.

It appears to me the GOP leaders and politicians are finally communicating with each other on how to fight back using all the shrewdness and smarts of the enemy. In unity, there may not be enough strength yet, but it's a great start for publicity and psychological purposes.

I applaud their stand, even though we don't know all the details of who, what and if right now, LOL.

There in language in Porkulus allowing the state legislatures to override those pesky governors.. I believe they have 45 days, and it’s a simple majority.

The black Rep. who put that clause in said he did it to prevent white southern governors from taking money away from "black folk" in their states. He said it is RACIST to oppose the stimulus.

Republicans should run on Undoing the PORKULUS bill in 2010, especially all house candidates. So far the GOP has shown remarkable unity over the PORK bill. Show us your spine and you will be winners, not like the RAT whiners.
