“Road to Serfdom” is a great book! However, it can be a hard read; it was for me personally. (growing sleepy...)
Another one that is very similar, but easier to follow, is Milton Friedman’s “Capitalism and Freedom”.
And another, even easier, is Henry Hazlitt’s “Economics in One Lesson”.
All three of these are cut from the same cloth and should be on most persons’ Suggested Reading List.
“it can be a hard read”
I think I know what you mean. I would characterize it as a “slow read”. His writing is extremely lean and economical (no pun intended), with lots of content concentrated into each paragraph. And it’s easy to get lost in his long sentences.
But what I liked about his style was that he stayed away from technical jargon and stuck to plain words.
While not totally economic, Animal Farm makes the same points.
