By Margaret Ryan BBC News Is having more than two children selfish? The future of the planet rarely plays a part when planning a family, but that's got to change, say environmental campaigners.
Parents who have more than two children are "irresponsible" for placing an intolerable burden on resources and increasing damage to eco-systems, says a leading green campaigner.
Curbing population growth through contraception must play a role in fighting global warming, argues Jonathon Porritt.
This week, the Optimum Population Trust (OPT), of which Mr Porrit is a patron, launched its "Stop at Two" online pledge to encourage couples to limit their family's size.

I thought I was considered selfish because I have none.
Unfortunatly those in high income countries across the world are faced with declining birth rates while the poor in other countries are still rapidly increasing their numbers Eventually populations with large numbers of young people will start pushing into the richer countries and we won’t have the numbers to stop them.
Just look at Russia, if it isn’t happening already I’m sure the chinese will begin to settle north of their border within twenty years. And Russia will be stretched too thin to put up much of a fight.
If the west and the east want to surive all of us need to start having babies and not bow to this pc crap. I notice the liberals don’t try to limit the exploding populations in Africa and the middle east. They just pick easy targets like us.
Liberals reject reality.
It’s not selfish to have children.
It is selfish to raise your children to be liberals.
Not nearly as selfish as having more liberals.
