Could be ~ more likely it's "serious parts" hitting the atmosphere.

Or, possibly the debris is taking out other satellites and when they hit the atmosphere they blow up.

Isn't there anyone in the press who understands basic physics? There is NO SOUND IN SPACE? Without air to transmit it, no sound from the collision could possibly come into the atmosphere.

I thought I read last week about a U.S. and Russian satellite colliding.

2 events or 1?

If 2 was this intentional. Putin is getting horsey lately.

He senses the weakness of BHO the poser.

Sunday around 11:00 a.m. people from Plano to Houston, and even as far north as Nebraska, reported hearing a loud explosion...
... the FAA said they believe the cause of the explosion is two satellites that collided in space Tuesday.

I know reporters aren't the sharpest tools in the drawer, but hearing the sound five days after the collison is a bit much.
Either that or the people heard the explosion two days before the collision.

just saying.

The cause of the explosions were things reentering the atmosphere, and the cause of that was the collision a few days ago. But most of the posters on this thread are correct, explosions don’t go bang! in a vacuum.

Satellites don't just crash into each other. I think this was a warning from beyond.

Klaatu, forgive us!

Oh don’t tell me YOU believe the official story? :) It fits right in with all the other UFO sightings that have been reported recently...

Imagine you are inside a spacecraft watching a battle. Things are blowing up all over the place. Large piece smack into your hullplating. You hear the sound.

I’m really surprised Bari hasn’t already made the wear of helmets mandatory.

He's not worried about us second class hoi polloi out in flyover country.

Why, Nanci is trying to reduce the population so we emit less CO2. And I'm certain Barri concurs with this.

I thought I read last week about a U.S. and Russian satellite colliding.

We took out one of our own (to show we could do it) about 6 months ago.

Pooty Poot couldn't stand not being in the act, so he took out one of ours also.

Bush's - no Barri's fault.

When the Shuttle returns there is a boom but not one heard over several states! There is something funny with this explanation.

Whew, I thought it might have been a meteor. Guess I’ll have to look for burned metal instead. The explosion was so loud over my house, it shook the windows and walls. The cows in the pasture started running for the barn, scared them so bad. I’m 20 mi. east of Waco, Tx.

The shuttle is one thing. When satellites collide, you get a whole bunch of pieces in similar orbits, each of which causes a boom on reentry. When Columbia broke up, people heard booms all over the place, pieces were coming down all over the place.

The real story is our SDI defense network took out a UFO.

I don't believe you were authorized to release that information. Don't say I didn't warn you if black suits start shadowing your every move.
