In these times of dire economic trouble, we're all watching President Barack Obama. Six hundred thousand jobs disappeared last month alone. Decisive action is needed — but this president does not act alone. He made that clear in his campaign. Obama is a community organizer, and we're his community; we have our part to play.
How does an ordinary citizen affect anything as massive as an economic meltdown? Last Sunday, 10 of us met in the College Park home of John Allen in response to a request from our president. All across the country, people were congregating at economic recovery house meetings.
Most of us in that living room had never participated in politics before the Obama campaign. Yet there we were, spending a cozy Sunday afternoon sitting in a crowded living room watching Obama present his plan via online video. Next, Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine answered questions. As the videos ended, we turned to one another. Now what?
When we donated to the campaign or worked the phone banks, we were told the real work would begin when the election was over. Here we were. We could call senators and make our voices heard. Then what? Obama hadn't asked us specifically to do anything, but we suspected that by gathering us together, he knew we'd think of something.
The recession is still mostly invisible in the middle-class world of Silicon Valley, but it's there when you look. Four of us were looking for work, two recently unemployed, two others trying to re-enter the work force after an absence. Kathy Stanley, recently unemployed and part of that alarming statistic quoted above, talked about recently joining a job-seeking club.

Maybe holding concerts for Stevie Wonder and using Air Force 1 every time he needs a pack of smokes would be a good place to start cutting back.

Zero NEEDS our help because he doesn’t have a clue what he’s doing. It’s not like he’s ever run anything before.
So, while Obama goes around, acting like Chicken Little, predicting the sky will fall, if we don’t support this legislation, this reporter is going to try to convince us that a high speed train to Vegas is just the ticket we need to ride us out of this.
People get ready, there’s a train a comin’. Don’t need no ticket, just get on board.

According to Obama, all we need to do to get out of the recession is to spend money. Lots of it. Beg, borrow or steal, but spend, spend, spend!

Kinda makes me wonder if they're wishing they'd asked a few more questions, rather than just accepting that Obama was going to buy them a new pony. The "stimulus" is pork to his buddies and funding for election fraud, nothing more. It's being funded by bankrupting the businesses that employed these people. So they collect around a computer, waiting for the next marching orders from the 0racle. Wonder if they'll ever figure it out, or if they'll just wait for more orders from 0™. I guess we should call the new administration 02, as it looks like the masses are huddled waiting for new marching orders from 0prah and 0bama.
The only question is, where, oh where to spend my $13 per month tax cut. Whooppee!!
