Bangalore Unfazed by the outrage over its attack on a Mangalore pub, the self-styled moral brigade of Sri Rama Sene on Thursday threatened to forcibly marry off couples dating in public on Valentine's Day. Sri Rama Sene founder Pramod Muthalik said that his activists would hold protests at hotels, hostels and colleges where Valentine's Day celebrations are held.
"Those found dating, expressing their love, cosying up to each other would be married off," Muthalik, who has been released on bail in the Mangalore pub attack case, said.
He said at a meeting of the Sene held on Wednesday it was decided to request the Karnataka Government to ban Valentine's day celebrations in the state. A memorandum to this effect would be submitted to the Governor Rameshwar Thakur, Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa and Home minister V S Acharya, he said.
The outfit has formed five teams which would roam around with a hidden camera on Feb 14. A priest would accompany the team which will have a turmeric stub and 'mangalsutra'. Muthalik, who came to limelight after the January 24 attack by Sene members on boys and girls in the pub, even claimed that the marriages will be registered.

Someone ought to set up an arranged marriage between Muthalik and Helen Thomas.
How?
*shrug* - Why should I care?
But...but...but...I thought Bangalore was that “modern” city where high-tech is growing and the future of world high-tech will be located....
Thank an Economic Anti-American for this. Creating a high-tech world in a place teeming with nutballs
Really? With no documents, names, or anything? And what if one or both is already married to somebody else?
There may be a few anxious gals that are impatient for their man to pop the question that might drag him out to “celebrate” ;)
I really don’t get the controversy surrounding Valentines Day in some areas of the world. Strange how love is so threatening. Red roses are even outlawed in Saudi Arabia.
Some papers are reporting they will take the couples to the police or/and force marriage upon them .
Also I hear they are planning to thrash people celebrating V-Day .
but it will be really be funny if someone is already married .
This is the easiest thing to break. Hire a different Hindu priest to declare couples temporarily brother and sister, or parent and child, so that to marry them would violate the incest taboos; or conversely, to give instant, no fault divorces.
Until their spouse sees the pictures!
No, but Mumbai is having quite a bit of different problems...
Bangalore has become the poster child of those who believe Americans are stupid and lazy...while Indians are superior. When the “Jack Welch Technology Center” isnt built in America...there is a big problem...
This is Mangalore; not Bangalore. Different cities.
And by the way:

Muthalik was arrested at Kamalapura when he was travelling from Bidar towards Gulbarga, while in Bangalore city around 140 Sene activists were rounded up and remanded to judicial custody till February 16, PTI reported.

The group has threatened to disrupt Valentines Day celebrations and marry off couples dating on the day in Karnataka.
In the backdrop of these threats, police have also beefed up security in Bangalore and kept other leaders of the outfit under the scanner.
In Bangalore, 18,000 police personnel had been deployed to provide security cover, Bidari said, adding all pubs, bars and restaurants, schools, colleges and even shops selling Valentine Day cards will be provided security, according to PTI.
“All precautionary measures have been taken and all station house officers have been asked to be alert so that there is no untoward incident tomorrow,” Karnataka home minister V S Acharya said, adding “It is our responsibility to see that no one takes law into their hand.”
Official sources said the government had issued instructions to police to deal sternly with trouble-makers.
The outfit was first involved in an attack on women at a pub in Mangalore last month.
Unfazed by the nationwide condemnation of the pub assault, Muthalik issued threats to disrupt Valentine’s Day celebrations and warned that couples dating would be married off by Sene activists on that day.

Well, the obvious answer is to get your own crowd together, bait some of this Muthalik's followers out into the open, and then set upon them from all sides and give them a beating they won't forget for at least six months after they get out of the hospital.
