“I know this is really a positive; but, we helped Columbia clean out their drug cartels -— we were successful. This is a victory; but, those drug cartels did not just disappear. They just moved — to Mexico...”
Actually they still have cartels in Colombia. What the Colombians have done is just let the Mexicans take over most of the distribution of their cocaine. The Colombian cartels still control production. They have people growing coca for them in Colombia, Peru and Bolivia. They produce the cocaine and sell it to the Mexicans who distribute it within this country. They lay low and stay out of the public eye, but Colombian cocaine production is about as high as ever. Cocaine is relatively cheap and pure now and as easily available as it ever was. We were a lot less successful than you might think.
Thanks for the info — appreciated.
