I wasn’t being envious, I have no problem with people who are more skilled, smarter, more ambitious and/or work harder than me being rewarded more for it. What gets my goat is that this guy gets all of that and not only does nothing useful to earn it, but in fact is positively working to destroy what I believe in!
I’m not envious - I’m angry. Wouldn’t you be? As a taxpayer, I’m paying for that man to live in better housing, doing less work, and in better conditions than I am. That (and only that) is the reason I detailed my financial situation. Actually, I am happy with my lot in life, because I don’t value material possessions particularly highly.
No ever admits to envy. It's as if it doesn't exist anywhere, while we are drowning in it. Pointing out a wrong is good. Comparing yourself to others is a formula for unhappiness and disaster. Envy and anger are cardinal sins, for a reason.
