Laura, we have a big chunk of this money going to roads, highways and mass transit, Specter said. I talked to the governor of my state and he said we could do it in nine months. And I said, Thats really not good enough. And he said, If we really twist and turn we can cut it back to six months. And I talked to the mayor of a major city this morning that has a parking plot going up, which is out of money and the work can go forward this afternoon.
‘TWIST AND TURN’???.....what is that suppose to mean? It sure doesn’t sound above board to me.
It sure doesn’t sound above board, all the way around. I caught part of Specter’s interview on Hannity today and Specter sounded like a dirty lawyer trying to make you believe that grass isn’t green. I was also struck when he said something like he’d already agreed to it a week ago, so that’s what he was going to do...he wasn’t even open to reconsideration or discussion of important points. I took away from his comment that he made a “promise” to the Rats and it was more important to honor that, however ill-advised, instead of being concerned about what is in this nation’s best interests.
