I work at a major university and the campus could lose 25% of its workforce and no one would ever know. The incredible amount of meetings, empire building, people trying to get through their last few years until retirement, etc., all makes for a dysfunctional workforce and it's amazing that anything gets done at all.

"I have no Internet access, no printer, no laptop, no car. Every day it's a struggle for me to bring in something I haven't read or listened to. I can tell you how many white cars pass on the Thruway . . . I can't take it anymore." You make $93k a year doing nothing and you live in Niskayuna, which is one of the nicest neighborhoods in the capital region. Get a damn wireless laptop and bring it to work, ya cheap fool. You get paid 93k/yr plus benefits and a handsome retirement package by people like ME who work their asses off to afford to live in this Godforsaken hellhole, all so you can do nothing but count cars all day and you're COMPLAINING about it? Get real.

“Getting stuck in a store room for two years”.
It’s a good thing he finally found his way out.

I'm embarrassed. Nobody cares. They don't care about Indians." Yes, another "victim" of our racist, oppressive society -- but one who pulls down $93,803 a year to do nothing.

And now they want more government workers to add to their union numbers and pay the unions off for their support.
My first and only union job, we were instructed to go find a place to hide in a power plant we were “building”.

"So only after cashing checks for 10 years and approaching retirement/pension he is ready to speak out? "
Must be his deferred comp took a big hit recently, and he thinks he can make a few bucks off the State before he retires.

What a looser and thief. With all that free money he's getting, can't he start his own firm, buy his own car and be self sufficient?
Does he not have one shred of conscience for being paid to do nothing and then dares to complain about it?
Meanwhile his company harasses people who get less than 4k a year from them. Those people don't have cars, internet, cell phones. They try to make ends meet.
Hey bozo, share your wealth with those people. Become useful to society. Stop using "race" as an excuse.

What a greedy SOB. Take away his pension in a meeting for dereliction of duty!

He responded by e-mail, copying several Paterson appointees, that his agency does not appreciate diversity, that he has been denied work and stripped of his dignity. "I want my dignity back," Hinton said in an interview before returning to his corner office in the back of the Insurance Fund's district office along I-90 East.
The moment you decide that someone else controls your dignity, you have lost.

"They don't care about Indians."
I worked for NY State for almost 33 years. I got news for Mr. Hinton. They don't care about anybody. The trick is to live long enough to retire. He's got enough years in, and he's the minimum age to retire. He should just put in his papers, and get on with his life. Take it from someone who knows...the aggravation isn't worth it.

A trick employers use to force people out. In this case; it hasn’t worked. Blackballing in this case is even worse since the guy told the truth.
However, we need to shed a lot of government workers.
