Wrong! I am a minarchist who argues that the spirit of the U.S. Constitution, as laid out in its Preamble, is completely subverted by people who would debate that economic liberty is bad when consumers have the liberty to purchase goods made from abroad. The Preamble is posted for your reading pleasure, below:
We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
Apparently securing the Blessings of Liberty is only good as long as it's nationalistically approved by the resident champions of more Leviathan government -- the true patriots! [/barf]
Sounds like you want it both ways... that's, okay everyone wants a free lunch.
But think for a minute: What if our .gov had only an whiskey tax and custom duties (tariffs if you will) to support the whole dam thing.
You claim to want small government and less interference with your affairs?
Starve the beast, eliminate the IRS and go with taxes on imports!
There’s that ‘consumer’ thing being more important than that citizen thing.
If you respect the Constitution then you’ll respect this:
Article 1 section 8
To regulate commerce with foreign nations, and among the several states, and with the Indian tribes;
The preamble is a preamble. The blessings of liberty doesn’t mean anarchy, which is what you say you want. Liberty means responsibility, after all.
