“There are a lot of patriotic Americans that would fight to preserve the constitution and they will also fight to preserve the union.”

The Constitution has been over for a long time - a dead as the Roman Republic in the days of Augustus Caesar. All that those “patriotic Americans” who would fight to preserve the Union would be doing is fighting to preserve the power of an illegitimate government. I don’t think that there will be much fighting, though. The more likely scenario is disintegration as a result of several endogenous and exogenous shocks to society over the next 10-15 years.

I don't think this is correct. Americans are dumb and distracted today. Who will die to keep Texas or New Hampshire in the Union? Not the American Idol crown who constantly criticizes the Iraq war and dreams of Whirled Peas! Besides, most of the military sees it our way and... we own all of the guns!!!
