A volcano near Tokyo erupted early Monday, with white smoke billowing and ash falling on the capital, the Meteorological Agency said. There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage following the minor eruption of the 2,568-metre (8,425 feet) Mount Asama, 150 kilometres (95 miles) northwest of Tokyo.
The volcano last erupted in August last year. Live television footage showed smoke coming from the snow-covered mountain seven hours after the eruption, shortly before 2:00 am (1700 GMT Sunday).

Did the eruption release Godzilla? Or just Japanese Godzilla movie music?
Pinging Godzilla.
I don't know about that, but may years ago the same volcano erupted right in the middle of my company ski trip, sending our party home a day earlier than planned.
I wonder if this is related to the volcano in Alaska?
ring of fire. It’s all related.
RAAAAAAAWWWWWW RAAAAAAAAAWWWWWW !!!!!!
my best Godzilla ;-))
Maybe this will take some pressure off Redoubt .
I thought the same thing, ring of fire and all.
AAAAIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEE
GODZIRRA!!!
I guess that the Volcanoes didn’t get the memo from ALGORE.
That’ll set the emission program back a few billion particles.
Yup. Ring of Fire.
Yes that is what I’m thinking. There has been a lot of earth quakes the past 2 months on the west coast too. Hoping that things calm down soon. All I can think of when it gets this active is Yellowstone. :(
“Near Tokyo” = 150 km away = “on the same island?”
Godzilla is at again what happen he is Cardinal fan LOL!
They better have a permit for that...
We’ll all be living in caves if we have to off-set the volcanos. Wonder what Albore’s plan is for those.
If you can see it, its near, especially in Tokyo, with our bullet trains, and awesome overground rail and subway system. Mt. Fuji is at least 150km from my place, and I can see it clearly, so its “near”. We’re only talking 93 miles, remember, just about an hour-and-a-half car ride, or a 2-day walk.
