It was only when he sent Hitler a message while the latter was in the Berlin bunker asking whether, as Hitler's designated successor, he should assume control of the Reich, that Hitler relieved him, and replaced him with Gen. Ritter von Greim.
Effectively demoted PzLdr, after the fiasco over Britain there was no more confidence displayed in him.
The mosquito, built from wood was a particular sore spot..the FolkWolfe twin engine model was meant to compete with it, but was a major dud of an aircraft.
Either way though, it was the pill addicted Goering who was overseer of the policy...AFAIK...never heard who took over for Heydrich after he was killed though.
