Yeah, after I got into it, it became a lot more confusing. If I had to guess, I’d suspect that the guy who owned the Pirates for one year changed the name, as he was heir to a steel fortune and the team changed their name and logo to that of a steel corporation, but all the sites are sketchy as to whether the owners actually moved their personnel, or just took over the other owners’ team.

Warner is a great American and a true Christian.

I’d be crushed if he had won, but I wouldn’t begrudge him one bit if they had won.

It was an “Instant Classic”!

No, the Pirates were ALREADY called the Steelers for the ‘40 season. AFTER the season the newly-named Steelers were sold. So the Pirates WERE changed to Steelers - then to “Ironmen”, then Eagles.

I like both teams. It seems like half the time, however, OSU is playing some underfunded tiny little school and there’s a 20+pt spread. I never understood how people can get excited for those games.

Only when it comes to the Steelers.

I’m afraid my husband will convert to Obama/Dem because of the Steelers, who are all-important.

I’m exhausted from the tension! Can’t wait for the parade.

Btw, I think Mr. Rooney is losing it. They asked about the parade and he said if it was like the one last year it will be great. Last year?

These people who are setting fires are a disgrace to the Steeler Nation.

Problem is your “reveling” supports these guys who openly push communism on us.

It’s fine if he kept it to himself - private - but no, he not only made a comment tonight, but actually held a public bru-ha-ha for One himself. That’s blatant support, not just private opinion. That’s like (and even worse) all the Hollyweird types who use their bully pulpit to blather publicly about Obama/Dems whenever they can, even though it’s not their profession to do so.

For the record, I’m neutral (until Rooney spouted off, now I am anti Steeler for his lifetime).

Im not so sure about your bazillion to one odds had there been one last play. IF they had gone back and ruled it an incomplete pass, not a fumble, then the “unsportsmanlike conduct” penalty against one of the Steelers for taking his helmet off (I believe it was Farrior) would have been enforced. The ball was at midfield, which would have put it on the Pittsburgh 35 for the “final” play. Certainly a makeable throw for any Pro quarterback, and with Fitzgerald’s ability to go up and get a pass, who knows.

Unlikely, yes, but better odds than a normal hail mary pass.

He does appear to be a few cards shy of a full deck.

I dislike 0bama more than most people I know, but for tonight I'm putting politics aside and enjoying the successful end of a difficult season.

Tomorrow I will still speak out against 0bama and all he stands for, while I continue to celebrate my team winning the Super Bowl!

Actually the Steelers are good overall.

It’s the FANS that bother me. Insufferable. Think Yankee fans writ large.

No, not only did Rooney change the name, but it DEFINITELY was changed by fan vote. I saw the newspaper reports about the choices in the HOF.

No, I don’t care about Obama either. It just seemed odd that he seemed to think there was a parade last year. The man’s getting old.

How weird. I never knew about them being the Ironmen. Until about 1960, the NFL was as stable as the World Football League. I was looking back through the NFL history in my book, and it has the Washington Redskins starting in 1932 as the Boston Redskins, and a bunch of teams that played one or two years, like the St. Louis Gunners, the Orange (NJ) Tornadoes, and the Portsmouth Spartans. When the Steelers started, the teams were almost like barnstorming traveling circuses.

I with ya brother. Been a Steeler fan since 1974. When I saw Rooney on the stage, I was thinking, "Please don't bring up Zero, please don't bring up Zero." He brought up Zero.

But with that said, I still am enjoying this Steeler victory. Heck of a game. Still think #13 is my favorite, cause I really hated the Cowboys back then. The satisfying thing about this one is the brutal schedule the Steelers had this year. I saw it, and thought they had no chance to make the playoffs.

As for the game, and the same as #40, I wore my lucky New Orleans Saints sweatshirt. I don't know why, but the Steelers do well when I wear this Saints sweatshirt. I have no attachment to the Saints. I just bought it once when I wanted a black sweatshirt.

But I noticed something else tonite. I was drinking Grain Belt beer in the first half, and things were going well. I stopped drinking in the 2nd half, and things went south. So I decided I needed another one for the final drive, and alas a TD. That one went down so quick, I needed another Grain Belt for the final defensive stand.

So it is Grain Belt beer and a New Orleans Saints sweatshirt that led the Steelers to victory!

Seriously, too many of them truly have priorities horribly screwed up. I’m dead serious about that. Taken way too seriously.

Make sure you have both on hand next year!

There's still 4 more fingers left!!
