IIRC, during the Second World War the Brits, who had production bottleneck problems, airdropped a set of dies to the Danish resistance so that they could make their own Sten guns in a toy factory they had access to.

I’ve seen grainy footage of a basement factory somewhere in occupied Europe where they were pumping out gun parts using a press that looked like one of the old fashioned printing presses (large wheel attached to a giant threaded rod).
