WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Barack Obama pledged on Friday to reverse labor policies from his Republican predecessor, George W. Bush, that unions have long contended favored employers over workers.
Obama, who won significant backing from trade unions in his Democratic presidential campaign, said there could not be a strong middle class, the focus of his economic recovery plan, without a strong labor movement.
He signed three executive orders to bolster unions in the workplace and strengthen workers' rights.
"I believe we have to reverse many of the policies toward organized labor that we have seen over the past eight years, policies with which I have sharply disagreed," Obama told a gathering at the White House.

Details, Please?
This guy sure doesn’t think he has to be the signer of things that the voted resresentatives of the people: CONGRESS: have put thru the processes of their respective parts of Congress, does he?
Why did we bother to vote for any members of the House of Representatives or one-third of the Senators?
He is going right past them and doing everything by Executive Order.
Is all of this legal?
Oh yeah, business will just explode when everyone is a union thug.
It’s not just Labor policy we have to worry about, it’s the blatant intent of the Congress to funnel Billions of tax dollars into the coffers of the Labor Unions, especially the Public Employee Unions, that we need to be worried about. By 2010 I think the average non-union worker is going to finally realize that in the Age of Obamunsinm, if you don’t belong to a Union you are on your own.
Obama's PAYBACK to UNIONS!!!
Let's make sure, freepers, we let them hear loud and clear just what Biden and Obama can do to help the middle class.
Obama wants to payback Unions for getting him elected let him do a donation run on one of his many websites. Workers do not need a middle person to take part of their wages they need to feed their families.
cns.com One way to encourage that give-and-take attitude is through employee involvement programs, where workers and supervisors sit down together to discuss ways to improve business. Thats exactly the sort of organization many employees want, but theres a problem. Many such groups are illegal.
The law says workers may speak with employers through a labor union, or not at all. Any other form of dialogue between employee representatives and management (outside of collective bargaining) is banned.
Thats a mistake, especially since relatively few workers these days even want to be unionized. A 2006 Zogby poll found that 74 percent of non-unionized workers say they wouldnt personally like to be a member of a labor union. Today only 20 percent say they would like to unionize. Thats down substantially from 1984, when about a third of non-union workers said they wanted to form a union.
In 1974, a quarter of private-sector workers were in unions. Today, only 7.5 percent are. What workers seem to want is a voice in how their company operates, without the confrontational attitude that so many unions bring to the table.
How does everyone like the New Amerika so far? Lots of “hope” and “change.”
Yeah like SEIU, a socialist group who got Obama elected. Unions love Obama because he believes in controlling everyone. Report back to me he will tell the Unions if anyone goes astray.
“is all of this legal”. He’s the messiah, and the messiah answers to no one.
Of course it , we all know he would try it. We now have Chicago and pay to play in the WH. But not for long, people are fed up, dissent is growing and they will make their voices heard in large numbers. It's coming. This is no time to sit back and brood. Write letters, make phone calls, protest, whatever it takes.
I’m sure allowing unionization of employees of the TSA is on “O’s” to-do list... democraps and union thugs wanted this from day one, but Bush plowed through the bleeding hearts.
This short 3 minute video shows everything that we need to know... how there should be a requirement to give jobs for infrastructure to not high skilled workers but to people who need the jobs the most... you know people who have a history of unemployment, and problems.

This stuff is getting old. If you can watch this and not feel your blood boiling... well, Huffington is always looking for a hand-out.
He is going right past them and doing everything by Executive Order.
It would only be a technicality. He has been given a democratically controlled House and Senate.
He can now rule by executive order.
The Rats have Two branches of Government and rule by EO that creates an Serious imbalance in the government. This is NO longer a Republic!
