Prime Minister Kevin Rudd has denounced the unfettered capitalism of the past three decades and called for a new era of "social capitalism".

"Neo-liberalism and the free-market fundamentalism it has produced has been revealed as little more than personal greed dressed up as an economic philosophy.

As Franklin Roosevelt rebuilt US capitalism after The Great Depression, modern day "social democrats" such as himself and US president Barack Obama, must do the same again, Mr Rudd writes in a 7,000-word essay in The Monthly magazine.

As an alternative, I would suggest a mild dose of neo-eatmyshortsism, followed by a strict regimen of proto-bitemeism, followed by an “easing” period of metabuffoonistics, performed on an ensolite mat in the outback at high noon.

I'd shake my head and go "tut-tut" Australia...but my country voted for the Marxist Messiah. Id put up with Rudd's silliness any day next to that juvenile detention reject of an imposter claiming to be this country's president.

God bless Australia, God Save America!!

I guess stretching out the Depression for a decade “rebuilds” Capitalism in Liberal land.
0 won't be happy until US free market is obliterated.

And the Socialist dominoes around the world start to fall in step. I hope only those who supported 0bama are hurt by his policies/actions. That goes for Rudd in Australia, too.

Unfortunately, those who didn't support Obama will be hurt most by his policies.

Rudd calls for new era of "social capitalism"

When business and government unite, it's called fascism.

Our bailouts are fascism as well.

People are afraid to use the real terms for what we are doing.

What is happening now is a mixture of socialism and fascism, which were never far apart to begin with.

When will these dolts stop citing Roosevelt and start citing their real heroes like Ceaucescu or Lenin or Mao or Hugo Chavez. Communist gutter trash, that’s who is running the once great “democracies.”

There is no such thing as Social Capitalism. Calling for such a thing is cover for calling for socialism.

SOCIAL capitalISM

Just another move toward Orwellian Newspeak. In this case, the term and the concept of "capitalism" is being absorbed into the term and concept of "socialism". Ultimately, socialism will be the new capitalism. Then it's all good, right?

................................

It was intended that when Newspeak had been adopted once and for all and the Oldspeak forgotten, a heretical thought - that is, a thought diverging from the principles of Ingsoc - should be literally unthinkable, at least so far as thought is dependent on words. Its vocabulary was so constructed as to give exact and often very subtle expression to every meaning that a Party member could properly wish to express, while excluding all other meanings and also the possibility of arriving at them by indirect methods. This was done partly by the invention of new words, but chiefly by eliminating undesirable words and by stripping such words as remained of unorthodox meanings.

The word progressive has some history to it.

Not exactly as flattering as they would think. Basically another name for Facist in the 1920s.

See the excellent book “Liberal Facism” for a great discussion on this.
