Actually, Rush used his radio show during the primaries to encourage Republicans to cross over and vote for Obama, because he and many others on the Right thought O would be easier to beat in the general election.

The above statement is factually - false. After the Republican candidate was effectively decided, he urged people to vote for Hillary, not Obama, for the express purpose of exposing Obama for what he was. it was called operation chaos.

I am not talking about the period after McCain won the Republican nomination. I am talking about the period before then, when many conservative commentators and others in the grassroots were more afraid of Hillary than anyone. At the time, it was conventional wisdom among conservatives that Obama would be easier to beat.

After McCain won, Rush transitioned into the so-called operation chaos.
