From the article is this deceptive journalism:
“The huge complex began growing rapidly in the mid-1990s, and reported cases of gonorrhea rocketed from 152 to 245, of syphilis rose from 17 to 33, and of chlamydia from 52 to 115 among those 55 and older in Florida from 1995 to 2005.”
It desperately wants to give you the impression that these upper-middle class retirees in this community are responsible for the increase in STDEs. but the numbers, are statewide, and could be made up primarily of old hookers, skid row drunks, and the like.
7 million Floridians over 55, and 400 have STDs. That’s about 1 in 20,000. On average, there would be three in this entire community, if these upscale horndogs were typical.
I caught that deceptive piece of journalism too.
I have a 90 year old widowed MIL in an assisted living center. Somehow I just can't see her hooking up with some old codger in a golf cart. LOL.
