You're right. People here shouldn't be cheering just because she held a few sensible positions in the House. There's a long history of relatively moderate House Dems or Dem Governors becoming flaming leftists after joining the Senate. Dick Durbin, now a leftist nut case, was pro-life and strong on national defense in the House. Evan Bayh was elected to the Senate in large part because of his moderate record as Indiana governor, but as a senator he's been a doctrinaire leftist. Bill Nelson of Florida was pro-life, pro-defense, and pro-gun as a House member. Now, as a senator, he's a lefty who pals around with Michael Moore. Pennsylvania's Senator Casey was elected as a centrist, but he's voted almost 100% leftist and has even waffled on his pro-life stance, a position that brought his family to prominence. And even Harry Reid can be added to this list. It may shock people to know this, but as a House member he was pro-life, pro-gun, pro-military, against the gay agenda, and centrist on government spending issues. Look at him now.

If Gillibrand takes the seat, I expect her NRA stance and support for the Bush tax cuts to fade with the wind.

There's a lesson here. It isn't really ideology that binds leftists together -- it's power. They will turn on a dime, for the sake of power.

As further proof, note that when the worm turns, it is Democrats who switch to the Republican party. But, with Democrats in charge, few Republican office-holders change parties (Jim Jeffords proving his colors in the process).

Once in power, the liberal agenda holds sway. But getting into power is more important even than the agenda.

If the lady is really a Bluedog Dem, she’ll so left out in the cold she’ll be cold-blue.

Sadly, Gillibrand is a pro-abort, and won’t budge on that issue.

btw, her congressperson seat will be filled by a special election. We need some more strong conservatives in Congress. Assembly minority leader Tedesco, John Faso (who ran against Spitzer) and Assemblywoman Betty Little are all pro-life and conservative in other ways, as well. Tedesco was a guest on Mark Levin’s show, btw.

Tell the NYS Republican Party that you would like one of them to be the candidate BECAUSE they are CONSERVATIVE.

NYS GOP # is 518-462-2601

She has already been declared a “traitor” by the MSM for holding a somewhat pro-gun position (For NY standards)..
