I agree completely. He shouldn’t even be discussing this. And to your original point, it’s really no one’s business.

Public figures who want to rule us are more than fair game.

And character counts - more than anything else. That’s why everything is such a disgusting shambles. The old timey virtures are what counts, and they have been largely not only jettisoned but kicked to the curb, spat on, and scorned.

Character is really the only thing that counts. So if a public figure or wannabe public figure is of bad character, the public should know.

I'm hugely frustrated at being raped by Congress for trillions of dollars in bailouts by pigs like Barney Frank and refuse to use cute euphemisms like “slept together” when no sleeping takes progress.

What Mr. Frank did to his banking insider, he did to this whole nation.

Whether she is or isn’t, it’s none of his business.

I disagree. Call me old fashioned (which I am), but I still like to see public figures who maintain some level of decency in their personal lives.

Having yet another adulterous New Yorker move into high office would not have been good for the country. Children are, after all, watching. Politicians should be good role models. Adultery, IMHO, should disqualify one from holding political office.

I get so incensed whenever we hear about an MOC, the president, a candidate for office, etal, involved in an extra-marital affair, someone has to come along and claim it is none of our business. Got caught visiting a prostitute? Leave him alone, it's a family matter. Enough already! Those folks, when elected, are endowed with the Public Trust, it is the duty of the voter to determine first and foremost whether or not that person is TRUSTWORTHY.

If they want to do it, they shouldn't run for office. If they reach office and want to do it, they shouldn't lecture to the rest of us against it.

Not only should the public know, we have the right, duty, nay obligation, to know the character of anyone who chooses to run for public office.

Times Publisher and His Wife Separate (May 10, 2008)

Looks like Pinch's support for gay marriage hasn't helped his own.

Sad for her children and husband. So public! Wow...

For the Kennedy clan this is a badge of honor, they don't have the same rules as normal people.

Just turned 67, and quite unlike most of my age group, I was never a big lover of America’s most dysfunctional First Family. It always grated me even back in the 60s that these people were seen as our version of royalty and the sense of entitlement that went with it. The biggest group of liars and 2-faced phonies to ever enter politics, IMO. I’ve never been able to stand them.

Conservatives and Republicans lack the ‘killer instinct’ of the left. Sarah Palin was defeated 10 weeks ago, and the left is still attacking her and her family. When we get one of theirs in a defensive position we should kick them and kick them until they are politically dead. If you remember the movie The Untouchables, ‘They pull a knife, you pull a gun. He sends one of yours to the hospital, you send one of his to the morgue. *That’s* the *Chicago* way! Obama is the president, it is the Chicago way for everybody.

post of the week. It’s why republicans always lose. Instead, as Limbaugh said, “They (repubs) want to be liked by people who will always despise them.”

Speaking of The Untouchables, we conservatives have to learn to do it this way.

I was in high school when JFK was assassinated. My Dad, who had only gone to the 4th grade worked for the NY Central Railroad. He had come here from Holland as a small boy, was naturalized, and was a life-long Democrat. I think his Democrat leaning came from being a member of the railroad union for years. We children were expected to vote for Democrats. My first ballot at age 21, was for Humphrey. My last Democrat ballot cast was for Carter's first Presidential run. After that, I voted straight Republican. My Dad died in '78, and I highly doubt, that if he was alive today, that he could bring himself to vote for any Democrat.

If you haven't seen the latest article in The NY Post on the scrap between Paterson and Caroline, check it out because it's good for a laugh. Paterson comes across as a big baby, claiming she disrespected him, although he probably actually said she "dissed him." He got mad because he thought she had agreed to wait before dropping out, and that she was unreachable by phone for hours. I guess Caroline didn't get the message that she was supposed to drop everything and answer her phone when the big man calls. He sounds very childish. Here's the link:

Governor Says Caroline turned 'Nasty'

The title makes it sound like she's a dog who turned rabid.
