"Never Mention How Old Man Kennedy made the family Wealthy."
Oh come on! Joseph P. Kennedy, Sr. was well-known for intensely disliking Prohibition and many people actually supported his efforts to end the law in the USA during those days--legal or not. But publicly, what really made his fortune was 1) he rode the rise of the stock market during the 1920's (getting out before the October 1929 crash) and 2) buying prime real estate in New York City for dirt-cheap prices during the Great Depression and making a gigantic fortune from selling it by the late 1930's.
